Rautahat's 36-year old succumbs to COVID-19, death toll reaches 39

A 36-year old COVID-19 patient from Parva Municipality-7, Rautahat district, breathed his last today at 2:30 PM in Narayani Hospital, Birgunj. He had returned to Nepal from Banglore, India on July 8. After he suffered from difficulties in breathing, he was admitted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Narayani Hospital, Birgunj on July 13.

88 out of 102 COVID-19 patients recover in Sunsari

Of the 102 COVID-19 patients identified in Sunsari from mid-June, 88 have recovered from the virus infection.

Once a hotspot, Banke has only 12 active cases of COVID-19

574 people of 146 families in Lamjung displaced due to floods, landslides

Some 574 people of 146 households have been affected after the swollen streams and rivers flooded the settlements in some places while in other places landslides falling down from above the settlements caused damages to the houses. 407 people of 109 families residing in Madhya Nepal Municipality alone have been displaced, according the Krishna Prasad Sharma, Chief District Officer (CDO) of the district.

More than 500 people who have been displaced from their homes due to the landslide in their settlement are now facing hunger. This situation has arisen after the food depot of the Food Management and Trade Company run out of stock of rice.   

Inundation in Tilathi   

 As always, Tilathi village of Saptari district in the southern border has been inundated again after the flooded Khando stream entered the settlements. More than 50 houses from Belhi village of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1 were waterlogged on Monday.    

Elderly killed after being swept away by river, search on for missing 20 people of Jambu, Bahrabise

Similarly, a search has been launched for 20 people of Jambu in Bahrabise municipality-5 and Bulkot in Bhotekoshi rural municipality-5 who have gone missing, said Inspector Ram Chandra Ghimire. Rescue efforts faced difficulty due to continuous rain, he added.

50 houses, customs office, police posts in Tilathi, Saptari, flooded

Over 50 houses of Belhi Tol at Tilathi in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1 in Saptari district have been inundated due to the flooding of the Khndo stream while Belhi Customs office, police posts of the Armed Police Office and the Nepal Police have also got submerged, according to Rajesh Kumar Jha, disaster management officer of the rural municipality.

Dinanath Chaudhary, chief of the health department in Likhu Rural Municipality, said, “After we couldn’t send 72-year old cancer patient of Likhu Rural Municipality, who had tested positive for the virus on July 10, to other hospitals for treatment, we decided to seal the village.”

Of the total 55 COVID-19 patients of the district, 38 have recovered from the SARS0CoV-2 infection, informed the Kalikot Health Service Office.

Man tries to save his wife, daughters, but landslides sweep them down

"We had planned to go to the fields early in the morning. Eldest daughter and son were with me while my wife and two daughters were sleeping in the other room. I tried to pull them out of the landslides when I got up, but the rolling mud swept them down in front of my eyes," Dhan Bahadur in tears shared his most unfortunate experience of his life about how he lost his wife and daughters, Kanchan and Karishma.

Swollen Babai River sweeps away couple  

A couple have reportedly gone missing in the flooded Babai River in Bardiya.     The Bardiya police said Jeet Bahadur Tharu, 32 and his spouse Raj Kumari, 26, of Baganaha, Thakurbaba municipality-4 suffered a tragedy as they were on the way to home after collecting firewood from the river bank. They disappeared near from the Khailar Bankattigaht, police said quoting an eye witness who later informed the police about the incident.
