No risk of outburst of glacial lake for time being

Issuing a public notice on Monday, the local administration had asked the people of Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers basin to remain on high-alert and safe as the lake might burst at any moment.

 Many rivers across the nation have crossed the danger mark and many are in the verge of crossing the danger level due to the incessant rainfall for a couple of days, thereby water-logging the settlements near river banks.

Narayani river crosses danger line with highest water level in 44 years   

The water level in Narayani river has reached 9.91 metres at 9 am today. This is recorded as the highest level after 44 years.     According to Narayani Basin Field Office Bharatpur chief, Ram Bikesh Ray, the water flow was measured 14,779 cubic metres per second at that time. Similarly, water level was measured 10.1 metres and water flow 15,300 cubic metres on 5th August 1974.    

Two killed, three injured in landslide   

Two persons died and three others were injured when landslide buried a house at Malikarjun rural municipality-8 this morning.     The deceased have been identified as Arjun Darjee, 27, and Milan Darjee, 22, of Lekam rural municipality-5, said member of Malikarjun rural municipality-8, Keshav Singh Dhami.     Similarly, house owner 35-year-old Laxmi Dholi, her nine-year-old son Subham and daughter Soniya, 14, were injured in the incident. Water level rising in rivers: Narayani and Koshi cross danger level

Life in most parts of the country including in Kathmandu Valley has been affected due to the incessant rainfall since two days. Landslide and flood has taken pace in several places, blocking the highways.    

Three from same family die in landslide 

Three persons were killed after a landslide buried their house at Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-6 in the district. Those losing lives are Milan Khand, 22, his spouse Samjhana, 20, and 18-month old baby, according to Information Officer of District Police Office, Rupak Khadka.         

  With over 200 landslips along Prithvi Highway, two days needed to resume traffic 

More than 200 landslides- big and small- occurred in the section of Muglin-Naubise along the Prithvi Highway with the incessant rainfall for some days. The road is completely damaged at the bridge over Mauwakhola stream linking Chitwan and Dhading.

The flooded Maikhola divided into two branches by trapping a cowshed in between where there were two persons from Maijogmai Rural Municipality-5. Lok Bahadur Nembang, 65, and Jojo Limbu, 30, were brought to safety by the NA persons last night.

Dumre-Beshishahar road section obstructed   

The Dumre-Beshishahar road section is blocked due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall since last night.     The road section at Ghumtibhir near to Ridikhola of Bhanu Municipality-3 is blocked after a landslide decanted there leaving the road section blocked since this morning, Dumre Area Police Office said.     Police have further stated that it will take some hours to clear the debris deposited at the place to resume the transport.    

Flooded stream sweeps away concrete bridge in Bajura

With the collapse of the 25-meter long concrete bridge at Taprisera along the Sanphe-Martadi Road section, mobility of the locals has come to a halt. Hira Thapa, Chair of Budhiganga Municipality-2, said complete damage of the bridge had caused great difficulty for the locals even to reach their homes.

Incessant rain leaves government offices waterlogged   

Various government buildings along with dozens of private houses have been waterlogged in the district headquarters Malangwa due to rainfall continued since Sunday morning.     The incessant rain has left different parts of the district including its headquarters inundated. Local traders have said several areas including Bal Mandir, Nagarpalika Chowk and the Bus Park have remained waterlogged following continuous rain.   

Locust swarms damage crops in Surkhet, Pyuthan
