By Gokarna Dayal, Baitadi, July 19: The police in Baitadi has taken action against 106 people for not wearing face mask while walking in the public and crowded areas.
The unruly people were fined Rs. 100 each.
The police in the district started taking action against people who move around without putting on face mask after the Home Ministry instructed to punish those who violate preventive measures against the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
Inspector Kishan Chand, information officer at Baitadi District Police Office, said the police took the action against the violators for moving around the market and similar public places without wearing face mask despite the police efforts to raise public awareness through public miking and other ways on the novel corona virus and importance of the use of face mask to check the spread of the virus.
With easing in the lockdown don'ts, people have started to walk around in the market places without putting on the face mask which has created high risk for virus spread. After the police started to fine the people without mask in the market places, people in such public places are found in face mask.
Local intellectuals remarked that it would have been better if the police also provided a mask to those whom it fined for not wearing a face mask.
