By Sher Bahadur Sarki, Bajura, July 20: Flooded Ghatte stream has swept away a concrete bridge over it due to incessant rain last night at Budhiganga Municipality-2 in the district.
With the collapse of the 25-meter long concrete bridge at Taprisera along the Sanphe-Martadi Road section, mobility of the locals has come to a halt.
Hira Thapa, Chair of Budhiganga Municipality-2, said complete damage of the bridge had caused great difficulty for the locals even to reach their homes.
"Some 12 households across the stream used the water of this stream both for drinking and household works. Now, with the sweeping away of the bridge last night, problem of drinking water has become even worse," he said.
Locals including that of Balde, Nadag, Amkot, Dugri and Khetkot have faced difficulty to cross the flooded stream and go around for their works. Even people are unable to reach home by crossing the flooded stream, let alone vehicular movement, according to ward Chair Thapa.
Dan Bahadur Rokaya, information officer at Bajura District Police Office, said that a paddy field of 100-ropani area with recently planted seedlings was also damaged due to the flooding in the Ghatte stream.
