104 households displaced after landslide, land depression

26 test positive for COVID-19 in Kanchanpur

Out of total 258 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests performed Seti Provincial Hospital in the last 24 hours, 26 persons were found with the virus infection. Of the infected, five are women and 21 are men.

Private schools resume online classes   

Private schools have resumed online classes from today after talks with the government became positive.     The private schools had closed online classes from July 16 asking their teachers and staffs to stay on unpaid leave, saying the schools could not provide them their salary as the government did not let them collect the tuition fees and did not provide them concessional loan. 

Gorkha-Aanbukhaireni road section resumes  

The Gorkha-Aanbukhaireni road section which was halted since Tuesday has resumed today.     According to Traffic Police Office Gorkha chief, Mitra Lal Dhakal, it came into operation from this morning as landslide debris deposited at about 25 places along the road section were cleared last night.     He said though road section was cleared off in most of the places, temporary management is made at Egharakilo to pass the vehicles.  

Public transportation resumes from today   

The public transportation which was halted for about four months has formally come into operation from today. The public transport was halted owing a threat of COVID-19 outbreak for past four months.    

Five bodies found in two big rivers of Chitwan

Five bodies have been found in two big rivers of Chitwan district today. According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, four bodies were found in Narayani river and one in Rapti river. Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Bahadur Thapa said that some bodies were found on the river bank while others were floating in the river.

A 60-year old male of Dhanusa, Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City died while receiving treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan on July 21. Likewise, a 49-year old Chinese national, infected with SARS-CoV-2, breathed her last today morning while receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital.

Pregnant mother rescued by Army helicopter  

An expectant mother was rescued today by Nepal Army (NA) helicopter from Sappata of Swamikartik rural municipality-1 in the north-east part of Bajura, the district in Sudurpaschim state. She is local Sharmila Budha, 23, and was taken to Nepalgunj.    

One killed, three injured in landslide 

Bibek Darnal, 15, of Mechinagar-9 died when landslide buried a house at Buddhashanti rural municipality-7, Motidanda in Jhapa.     Police verified that the landslide occurred on Tuesday night had buried the house of Tej Kumar Baraili of Buddhashanti-7 leaving Darnal dead.    

Landslide again blocks Narayangadh-Muglin road section   

Landslide has again thrown the traffic along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section out of gear. In a couple of hours following the operation of one-way traffic, the road came to a complete halt, shared chief of Division Road Office Bharatpur engineer Krishna Raj Adhikari. 

Relief provided to families of landslide victims in Syangja

Hari Bahadur Chuman, Gandaki State Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, provided the relief amount to the families of the victims of the natural disaster on Tuesday. Families of the three who were killed and a family of the one who went missing in the landslides on July 14 at Khahare, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4 and another family of a person who was killed after landslides buried his house at Galyang Municipality-9 on June 27 were handed over the relief.

Community schools in Hetauda resume classes maintaining social distancing

Decision to resume classes was taken after finding an increased cases of mental problems in students during the lockdown. We have maintained social distance and cleanliness very well in the schools, said education coordinator, Hari Chandra Sapkota.
