11 go missing in Sankhuwasabha landslide 

Eleven people have gone missing as a landslide swept away seven houses at Besinda of Sisuwakhola of Silichong rural municipality-1 in Sankhuwasabha. Three people were rescued from the landslide triggered by incessant rainfall last night, said ward chair Ram Bahadur Kulung.    

One killed, five families displaced by floods

A person has died after being swept away by the flooded Biring river following continuous rainfall in the district. Rajesh Ganesh,35, of Jhapa rural municipality-5 drowned while bathing in the river, according to Nepal Red Cross Society Jhapa chair Lokraj Dhakal.    

Three more succumb to COVID-19, death toll hits 38

Three males aged 45, 54 and 60 receiving treatment at various hospitals in Kathmandu succumbed to COVID-19, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 38.

High alertness is maintained with the increasing risk of inundation and floods in the district.     The locality near Rapti River faces risk of inundation and floods every rainy season. People have been alert in view of the rising water level in the river. Chief District Officer Ram Bahadur Kurunbang said the administration has kept its entire mechanism in high alertness to tackle the possible risk of natural disasters.

The District Administration Office, Siraha has urged the people in six of villages to stay in high alertness in view of the rising water level in the Kamala River.

Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has said government prioritizes the management of population for country's development. Four members of a same family have taken ill after consuming wild mushroom at Rohini Rural Municipality- 1in Rupandehi. The family ate curry made of mushroom brought from the jungle on Friday evening.    

Locust to be bought for 100 rupees per kg

The Arjundhara municipality of Jhapa has allocated a budget of Rs. 500,000 to purchase locust. The budget has been set aside in order to minimize the damage from the locust to the agriculture sector, said Mayor Hari Kumar Rana.

42 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Kathmandu valley, count climbs to 314

Of the infected, 18 are from Kathmandu, 13 are from Lalitpur and one is from Bhaktapur, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Three fear dead, three injured in landslide   

Three people feared dead in the landslide that occurred at Besishahar municiplaity-7 in Lamjung district.     Police confirmed that local Depak Tamang, 33, Chhewang Tamang, 9, and Bimaya Tamang, 26, lost their lives when the landslide gushed into Deepak's house at around 11.45 last night.  

Only 85 COVID-19 patients in isolation in Sudur Paschim State

The State Ministry of Social Development has said that out of 2,985 active cases of COVID-19 only 85 were receiving treatment in isolation in various health facilities.

  Monsoon activities to intensify for four days   

Monsoon activities will likely intensify from today until Sunday, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has said.     Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar said there was the possibility of increased monsoon activities in the next four days due to the location of the monsoon low pressure system near the Tarai region of Nepal.
