By Our Correspondent, Rajbiraj, July 10: The Crisis Management Committee of Saptari district said it was well prepared to minimise the potential risks that floods might cause in the district.

The committee has analysed the situation of the scenario that floods could invite and has directed all the clusters to remain alert.

"Preparation has been made following the alert from meteorological forecasting division that heavy rain is predicted for four days from Friday and there are high chances of water level and flow to rise in the rivers," said Jay Kumar Ghimire, assistant chief district officer and spokesperson at the Saptari district administration office.

According to Ghimire, the authority has already informed its clusters to alert the locals living on the riverside.

"Relief materials have also been provided to the clusters for rapid response and they have also been dispatched to the major flood-prone places," said Ghimire.

Water level is expected to rise in the Khado, Sapta Koshi, Mahuli, Jita, Triyuga and Khadak rivers of the district.

The district administration has also requested Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army to remain prepared to be deployed in rescue missions.

Issuing a notice on Thursday, the district administration also requested the public to remain aware and alert and away from the riverside.

Every year around a dozen villages get flooded and large area of agricultural land submerges in Saptari during monsoon rains.
