COVID-19 not spread in community in Kathmandu: MoHP spokeperson

As part of investigation to see whether the virus has spread in the community or not, swabs were collected from people residing at 10 different places in the Valley for testing. And all the swabs tested negative for the virus, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population.

29-year old dies from COVID-19, death toll reaches 35

A 29-year old COVID-19 patient of Nishikhola Municipality-3 in Baglung district, placed in quarantine set up at Dhorpatan Municipality, succumbed to the virus on July 5, said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

A record 54 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Kathmandu Valley in a single day

Bajhang landslides victims face food, shelter problems, relief yet to reach as road is obstructed

13 more Nepali die of COVID-19 abroad  

Thirteen more Nepalis have died of coronavirus abroad in the past one week. According to Non-Resident Nepali Association's Health Committee, the tally includes fresh deaths from the United Arab Emirates (6), India (5) and one each from Oman and Kuwait.      As informed by the Committee, till Saturday evening, 143 Nepalis succumbed to the virus in 14 countries including the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands, Sweden and Oman.   

Escalation of coronavirus warrants additional alertness 

Although the coronavirus case is increasing in the recent days, the general public seems unfazed.     Nepal had witnessed the first case of coronavirus six months back. After two months of the youth with first case returned home after recovery, a woman was found infected with coronavirus. Similarly, the government imposed lockdown order since March 24 to contain the outbreak of the virus.

Landslides have been reported in various parts of the district, since the onset of monsoon. On Saturday night, the house of Mangal Aiyer in ward no. 7 of Puchaurdi municipality was buried in a landslide.

  Locusts invasion causes huge damage in Arghakhanchi  

Locusts destroyed maize crops cultivated in over 10,000 hectares of land in the district. Farmers are worried much after the continuous invasion of locusts for six days. The loss is equivalent to Rs 500 million.    

Three killed, four buried in landslide in Bajhang  

There persons were killed and four others went missing in the landslide that buried a total of 17 houses at Kedarsyaung Rural Municipality-8 in the district last night.    

     Pokhara regional international airport makes 60 percent work progress  

The Pokhara Regional International Airport Project has completed sixty percent of construction works when one year is left for the deadline. The China-based CAMC Engineering Company owns the contract to implement the project falling into the national pride project and it has been given deadline to complete the project within July 10, 2021. The total project cost is Rs 22 billion.
