One killed in lightning in Bajura 

An 8-year-old child was killed in lightning at Bhaisikharka of Budhi Nanda Municipality in the district last night.     The deceased has been identified as Dipesh Bohora. According to a local Indra Bohora, the child was at home while lightning struck there.   

NCP’s Standing Committee meet puts off till Monday   

The ongoing fifth Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been postponed till coming Monday. Party publicity department deputy chief Surya Thapa confirmed the postponement of the meeting till July 6.

Two killed, five injured in road accident

Two people died and five others were injured in a road accident at Akabre chowk in Chathedhunga, Aathrai rural municipality-5. The accident took place on Friday evening involving a tractor (Me. 1 Ta. 6219) carrying labourers working on the Mid-hill highway.

NTB imparts online tourism protocol training

MCC on hold: Minister Khatiwada

Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said the ongoing budget session of the federal parliament was prorogued due to COVID-19. So the US was informed that the MCC compact aimed at development of energy and transport sectors could not be endorsed by the parliament at present. He however said government was for the implementation of MCC compact.

85-year old COVID-19 patient dies at Kathmandu-based hospital

An 85-year old male of New Baneshwor, Kathmandu receiving treatment in isolation at Kathmandu-based private hospital who died on July 1 has been found to be COVID-19 positive, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam in the daily press briefing today.

   Rice planting till end of June at 38 per cent 

Till the end of June, 38 per cent rice transplantation was completed across the country and this was possible due to timely monsoon. The figure is around three times more rice plantation done during corresponding period last year.  

Rain forecast throughout country for next three days 

Rainfall has been forecast throughout the country for the next three days as monsoon has become active.     The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged all to adopt necessary alertness to be safe from landslide and flood as there is possibility of rain in the next few days.    

Landslide kills two children in Gulmi  

Two children have died while one has gone missing in incidents triggered by incessant rain in the past 24 hours in Gulmi.     The 18-month-old Suraj, son of Basanta Saru of Maldi, Isma rural municipality 1 was killed by a landslide on Thursday midnight, confirmed District Police Office's Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Khadka. The child's parents have also sustained injuries in the incident.

The infant, originally from Dhaulagiri Municipality-4, Myagdi, was admitted to TUTH on June 18 and was receiving treatment in ventilator in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

A record 32 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Kathmandu in a single day

COVID-19 infected lady sent home as her PCR report got exchanged

A 24-year old female of Banepa Municipality-10, who had in fact tested positive for the virus but was given a negative report, stayed at home in close contact with her family members due to the misinformation provided by the Dhulikhel Hospital.

A jeep has plunged into the Trishuli River this morning. A jeep probably heading to Kathmandu met with an accident at Mauwakhola along the Prithvi Highway and fell into the River.  

Tokha municipality to provide Rs 50 per kg of locusts as incentive
