Nine new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Kathmandu

Four persons, two males and two females, in Kathmandu, four persons, three males and a female, in Bhaktapur and a male in Lalitpur have been found positive for the virus, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, at a daily press briefing on Thursday.

The deceased was running a grocery cum snacks stall at Panchamul, Andhikhola Rural Municipality-1. He breathed his last on Thursday at Gandaki Regional Hospital in Pokhara. He was taken to Fewa City Hospital in Pokhara on June 21 for treatment after he had a fever. However, he was afterwards taken to the Gandaki Regional Hospital as the Fewa City Hospital rejected to treat him suspecting he may have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19.

Lightning kills two women, one injured  

Two women died here after they were hit by lightning coupled with incessant rainfall today.     The dead are Samjhana Ghising, 17, and Bina Ghising, 25, from Makwanpur Bakaiya Rural Municipality-2, police said. Samjhana died on the spot while Bina breathed her last while receiving treatment at Dovan Health Post, according to District Police Office, Makwanpur.

Woman placed in quarantine gives birth to a child

Khadka has been staying in the quarantine along with her husband since they returned home from India on June 15. Paras Shahi, chief of health section of the rural municipality, informed that Khadka had given birth to a baby at the health center at 8 am this morning. Health condition of both the mother and the new born is normal, according to Shahi.

Police detain fugitive Yadav after 11 years

The arrested has been identified as Rajesh Yadav, alias, Dharma Singh, a permanent resident of Duduwa Gaunpalika of Banke district. He is accused of a murder.
