Police detain fugitive Yadav after 11 years

By Our Correspondent, Banke, June 23: Police Tuesday detained a fugitive 11 years after he committed several crimes including a murder.

The arrested has been identified as Rajesh Yadav, alias, Dharma Singh, a permanent resident of Duduwa Gaunpalika of Banke district. He is accused of a murder.

District Police Office, Banke, made Yadav public by organising a press meet this morning. Police, acting upon a special tip-off, nabbed him from his own home at 3:00 am.

Yadav was accused of killing Chhanda Bikram Malla, a permanent resident of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-21 of Puraina area, in September 2009.

Police had got information that he came to his hometown from India this week, according to Superintendent of Police Om Bahadur Rana.

Over half a dozen criminal charges, including murder, abduction and arms and ammunitions, were filed against him.

Deceased Malla was abducted by an unknown group on September 6, 2009, and his body was recovered from the paddy field a day after he went missing.

The then armed underground outfit Janatantrik Terai Freedom Front led by (Jwala Singh Group) had owned up the responsibility of Malla’s abduction and murder.

Following the incident, younger brother of deceased Malla had lodged a written complaint of murder against Yadav.

Police said that as per the investigation into Yadav’s past criminal records, he was found associated with outlawed Jwala Singh group.
