'Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Spread Love Campaign' launched

The United Nations Country Team in Nepal - together with over thirty national and international organizations - collectively launched the Maya Phailaun (Spread Love) Campaign, calling for an end to stigma and discrimination against people, amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country. 

Chartered rescue flights intensified to bring Nepalese back home

Rescue flights are being conducted in Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The national flag-carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and private airlines are making chartered flights from different countries to Nepal. Nepalese migrant workers who were desperately waiting to return back home owing a threat of COVID-19 outbreak are being rescued via chartered flights.    

   Jin Air will be making Incheon-Kathmandu chartered flight on June 30  

 The South Korea-based Jin Air will be making its first flight to Kathmandu. It is scheduled to make a up-down chartered flight on the Incheon-Kathmandu route on coming June 30.    

Traffic on Prithvi Highway blocked  

The dry landslide occurred at Mugling-Anbukhaireni section of Prithvi Highway has blocked the vehicular movement since last night.         

Landslide damages drinking water pipe

The landslide occurred in various parts in Baglung district has damaged the pipe supplying drinking water to Balung bazaar. The drinking water pipe was swept away at origin of Bhudikhola, Dobillo and Resam, which has completely disrupted the drinking water supply. 

13 new cases of COVID-19 including 10 in a single ward confirmed in Syangja, district tally climbs to 99

Universal Anesthesia with a ventilator has been made available at Syangja district hospital located at Putali Bazar Municipality-3. Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Padma Aryal, took the initiative for ensuring availability of the ventilator in the district hospital.

Monsoon becomes active, brings rains almost nationwide  

Rainfall is taking place almost all parts of the country today as monsoon remains active. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, monsoon that earlier entered the country from the eastern Nepal has now its presence across the country.     The Division has predicted cloudy sky with the possibilities of rain nationwide and escalation of monsoon activities for the next three days. The Division has urged all to remain alert towards that end.    

Health Ministry managing ventilators and ICUs estimating number of infected  

The Ministry of Health and Population has made arrangements for the medical treatment by making a projection of the probable COVID-19 patients. The Ministry has readied one thousand ventilators and 1,800 ICUs throughout the country by projecting the number of serious coronavirus patients.    

Saptari records 13 new COVID-19 cases, district caseload reaches 173

Of the newly identified COVID-19 patients, two persons aged 29 and 24 are from Hanuman Nagar Kankalini Municipality, four aged 16, 42, 38 and 38 from Balanbihul Rural Municipality, five aged 24, 35, 23, 27 and 31 from Rajgadh Rural Municipality and two aged 38 each are from Rajbiraj Municipality, informed Duniya Lal Yadav, Chief of Saptari District Health Office.

Youth commits suicide in quarantine after returning from India

A 32-year old youth placed in quarantine set up at Chabis Pathibhara Rural Municipality-7 of the district has committed suicide on Sunday night.

Mustang's Tibetan refugee camp sealed following detection of first COVID-19 case

The camp was sealed after an 82-year old male from Bouddha, Kathmandu tested positive for the virus in RT-PCR. His swab sample was collected after he arrived to the Camp in Mustang, said Bed Prasad Aryal, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Mustang.

Markets in Patan municipality sealed for week 

Market areas inside the Patan municipality in Baitadi have been sealed off for a week, beginning from today bearing in mind the growing COVID-19 cases in the area. An all-party meeting earlier decided to shut down markets till June 29 in a bid to stem the further spread of the virus, as said by mayor Keshab Bahadur Chand.  

Five fall ill after consuming wild mushroom 

Five persons have fallen ill after consuming wild mushroom in Dang district.     Satya Pun, 69, of Tulasipur Sub-Metropolitan City-8, his wife Maiti, 61, daughter Bhola of Tulasipur-5, grandsons-- Lalit, 15, and Bishal, 11, have taken ill after consuming wild mushroom, said Information Officer at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulasipur.

A fresh landslide triggered by incessant rainfall on Sunday night has blocked the Karnali Highway at Galli of Khandachakra municipality-3 in Kalikot.    

900 plus Nepalis return home from 10 int’l flights on Sunday

On Sunday, Nepal Airlines Corporation made four flights while Himalayan Airlines, Jazeera Air and Fly Dubai made equal two flights. Altogether 247 including a baby arrived home from Riyadh of Saudi Arabia by an aircraft of Nepal Airlines while 149 passengers including three children returned home from Doha of Qatar in the NAC aircraft.

Three villages sealed off in Gulmi

Residents of the villages--Rotepani, Ukhap and Ripaha--have been asked to remain indoors unless there are emergency works, said the rural municipality chair Top Bahadur Basnet. The infected woman was initially admitted to Lumbini Medical College a week ago after her RDT reports were positive. Her PCR reports were also positive, said the hospital. Her swabs were tested at a laboratory in Bhairahawa.

PMC establishes women-only quarantine

According to Manju Devi Gurung, deputy mayor of the city and coordinator of the high-level committee to prevent and control COVID-19, explained that the need for a separate quarantine arose because of various problems that women faced in the metropolitan’s quarantine facilities.
