By Our Correspondent, Saptari, Jun 21: In the past week, cases of snakebite have increased at once in Saptari.
Two women have already died due to snake bite in the last three days while four individuals are receiving treatment for the bite.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Kanchan Kumari Ray, a resident from Tilathi Koiladi Gaunpalika, died due to a snake bite.
Similarly, 40-year-old Saraswati Mehta, a resident from Rajbiraj Municipality, died while receiving treatment for the snake bite at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital on Friday.
Mehta was bitten by a snake on Friday itself.
Along with Mehta, four others were bitten by snakes on Friday and are undergoing treatment at the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
Among the ones receiving treatment are Pushpa Mandal of Rajbiraj Municipality, Pramila Yadav of Rajgadh Gaunpalika, Ramkumar Mandal of Dakneshwori Municipality and Mahi Narayan Chaudhary of Agnisaira Krishnasavaran Gaunpalika.
“All the patients are out of danger. With cases of snake biting increasing, we have also started keeping stock of anti-venom medicines,” said Dr Ranjit Jha, medical superintendent at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
