Six new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Kathmandu today

Spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said at the daily press briefing that of the six, three persons including a woman are from Bhaktapur, two, a male and another female, from Kathmandu and one from Lalitpur. Earlier,  on June 15, MoHP had confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.

Country to see partly to generally cloudy weather today 

The weather will be partly to generally cloudy throughout the country with chances of heavy rain on Thursday due to the influence of monsoon wind, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.    

Chinese killed by falling boulder   

A person has died and another one has been injured after they were hit by falling boulder at Marsyangdi rural municipality-6. Both were workers at the 30 Megawatts capacity Ngandi Hydropower Project at the rural municipality.    

Separate quarantine for women

Pokhara Metropolitan City has managed a separate quarantine for the women. Buddha Hospital at Ward No 3 of Metropolitan City has been changed into quarantine for the women coming home from abroad.

25 new COVID-19 cases detected in Baitadi, district tally hits 52

10 people from Chand Municipality, six from Sigash Municipality, four from Pancheshwor Rural Municipality, three from Sunarya RM and two from Patan Municipality were identified with the virus infection on Thursday.

Rural municipality rescues expecting mother  

An expecting mother has been rescued by helicopter to the Kohalpur Medical College. Twenty-year-old Januka Rokaya of Dandakhet, Kushe rural municipality had to be airlifted after she could not be treated at the Archhani health post.

   With first case in Manang, 47 more test positive for coronavirus in Gandaki State  

Coronavirus infection was confirmed on 47 individuals in the past 24 hours in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), Tanahun, Gorkha, Parbat and Manang district of the Gandaki State. The tally of coronavirus infected ones reached 294 including 15 women in the State.    

Samsi in Mahottari turns as hotspot with 273 new cases  

Samsi Rural Municipality in Mahottari district has been sealed off from last midnight till coming Saturday midnight as 273 individuals in different quarantine facilities tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday.   

Traffic resumes along Narayanghat-Muglin section   

The Narayangadh-Muglin road section, which was obstructed from 4:15 am on Wednesday after a landslide, opened for traffic at 10:00 last night.    

Three persons including policeman test positive 

Three individuals including a police constable working at Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, tested positive for coronavirus infection on Wednesday in Bhaktapur district. The policeman is a permanent resident of Changunarayan Municipality in the district.    

Ilam locals initiate park construction despite obstruction from Indian SSB

Indian border security, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has been obstructing the work since it was started two months ago although the park construction site is 500 meters into Nepal from the no man's land at the border between Nepal and India. The park construction has been started by a user's group in the initiative of Jit Bahadur Rai, chair of Maijogmai Rural Municipality. Tumling, the park construction location, lies in ward number 2 of the Maijogmai RM in Ilam district.

Ministry releases budget for quarantines, holding centres

Ministry Spokesperson Basanta Adhikari said the ministry released Rs 132 million for the quarantines at 176 local levels and Rs 27 million for 20 holding centres to be set up at 20 local levels where the people enter the country via land routes.    

China says it agrees with India to peacefully solve tensions

Zhao repeated Chinese claims that the clashes, in which an Indian officer and 19 soldiers were reportedly killed and many more injured, came after Indian forces “provoked and attacked Chinese personnel, which lead to fears, physical confrontation between the two sides’ border troops and resulted in casualties.”

Body of a boy missing in Parbat landslide found  

A 14-year-old boy who had gone missing in a landslide occurred at Kahule of Durlung in Kushma Municipality-3 in the district since Saturday night was found dead this morning.    

People declining in Banke quarantines

With a large number of people coming from India, around 10,000 people have been kept in 108 quarantines in the district. However, some 7,221 people have been sent to their homes after their swab report for coronavirus tested negative, according to the health office in the district.

Home Ministry to provide Rs. 1 million to families of Rukum murder victims

The Ministry of Home Affairs has recommended Rs. 1 million as compensation to the family of all six youths, including Naba Raj B.K. of Jajarkot district, who were killed brutally in West Rukum recently.

Panchathar reports first COVID-19 on returnee migrant woman

Following her rescue, she was put in the Bhaktapur-based holding center before sending her to the district. However, three others rescued from other countries who are accompanying her in the quarantine have tested negative.

SC acquits Nepal national team footballers of match fixing charges

Bhadrakali Pokharel, spokesperson of the Supreme Court, informed on Tuesday that the SC gave clean chit to Sagar Thapa, former captain of national football team, players Anjan KC, Sandip Rai, Ritesh Thapa, Bikash Singh Chhetri and physiotherapist Dejip Thapa.

KOICA assists 50 thousand PCR kits

Dr Rajan Pokhrel, Chief Health Advisor of Ministry of Health and Population and Chief of Health Coordination Division, received the assistance from the South Korean Embassy's Chargé d' Affaires. In the first lot, South Korea handed 25,000 kits and remaining will be given on coming Saturday, the KOICA said. The assistance is equivalent to Rs 625 million.
