25 new COVID-19 cases detected in Baitadi, district tally hits 52

By Gokarna Dayal, Baitadi, June 18: 25 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Baitadi on Thursday, taking the COVID-19 tally of Baitadi district itself to 52.

10 people from Chand Municipality, six from Sigash Municipality, four from Pancheshwor Rural Municipality, three from Sunarya RM and two from Patan Municipality were identified with the virus infection on Thursday.

According to Baitadi District Health Office, six males aged 21, 33, 20, 26, 28 and 25 of Dasarath Chand Municipality placed in quarantine at Birendra Scecondary School, Sahilekh, 49-year old male placed in quarantine at Jagannath Multipurpose Campus, 14-year old girl and 38-year old male of Ratmata quarantine and a 24-year old male of Barakot quarantine had tested positive for the virus.

Likewise, six persons aged 24, 21, 22 and 18 were detected with COVID-19 infection in Sigash Rural Municipality. The age of two patients is yet to be confirmed.

26, 40, 23 and 31-year old men of Pancheshwor RM, 21, 45 and 28-year old men of Sunarya RM and two men aged 18 of Patan Municipality had also tested positive for the virus.

All newly identified COVID-19 patients had entered Nepal from various places of India. Majority of the confirmed patients had already returned home after completing their quarantine period.

“Via local levels, we have requested those patients who have tested positive for the virus but are asymptomatic to stay in home isolation,” said Yogesh Prasad Bhatta, Chief of Baitadi District Health Office.
