By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, July 15: Along with the increasing recovery rate of COVID-19 patients in Banke district, once a hot-spot of COVID-19, the identification of new cases is also decreasing.
On Wednesday, seven COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities in the district were discharged after recovering from the virus, informed Banke Health Office.
Now, there are only 12 active cases of COVID-19 in Banke, informed Naresh Shrestha, Corona Focal Person.
“Although we have been conducting around 200 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests daily, rate of new cases is very low,” said Shrestha. “In other news, the recovery rate is also increasing. Now, only 12 COVID-19 patients are yet to recover from the virus.”
Shrestha said that Banke would be declared a COVID-19 free zone after 12 patients recover from the virus infection.
Till now, of the 374 COVID-19 infected, 361 have recovered from the virus whereas two succumbed to the virus.
According to the Banke District Health Office, of the total 9,469 PCR tests conducted till now, 6,708 tests were done on those placed in quarantine and 2,961 tests were done via contact tracing.
