By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, July 13: Over 50 houses of Belhi Tol at Tilathi in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1 in Saptari district have been inundated due to the flooding of the Khndo stream while Belhi Customs office, police posts of the Armed Police Office and the Nepal Police have also got submerged, according to Rajesh Kumar Jha, disaster management officer of the rural municipality.
Satish Kumar Singh, Chair of the rural municipality, informed that the flooding that occurred on Monday had also damaged the Rajbiraj-Tilathi road section at two points.
As the swollen Khando stream flooded the customs office area and submerged shops around it, it is said it caused a damage of thousands of rupees to the local business people.
Gajendra Mandal, a local of Launiya, even said that he saw some eight or ten bodies floating in the flooded Khando stream.
The flood has submerged recently planted paddy fields of scores of hectares.
