Man killed by gun placed for poaching

A man has been killed in an apparent gun misfire at Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality-5 in Dadeldhura district on Tuesday night. The dead has been identified as Dal Bahadur Pan, 45, of Ganyapadhura-4, and the gun was fixed to ambush wild animals at a community forest in the locality, said the police.

TU Central Library to have a new building

The library building damaged by the 2015 earthquake is being re-constructed with the financial grant of the Government of India. The building being constructed at a total cost of Rs. 361.16 million will ensure a 24-hour study facility for readers and researchers as well as a separate computer lab for e-library facility, hall for seminar-workshop, exhibition room, etc. An agreement has been reached to complete the construction of the building within 15 months.

Two arrested with brown sugar

Two persons have been arrested on Saturday from Arjundhara and Mechinagar municipalities of Jhapa district along with the banned narcotics, brown sugar. The arrested are Kumar Rajbanshi, 45, of Mechinagar-12 and Res Bahadur Sarki, 36, of Bhangbari in Arjundhara-4, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.

A foreign national has started cleaning various chowks and sewers in Simkot Bazaar area, the district headquarters of Humla. The main square in the market area, Airport Chowk, Tindhara, Kalinchok and Lotantrik Chowk have been cleaned by Spanish citizen Karls Marti Sobira.    

Land fraud case: seven including ward chair arrested  

Police have arrested seven persons, including the ward chair and an employee of Land Revenue Office, in a land fraud case in Bhotkhola village of Sankhuwasabha district. The team including the ward chair of Bhotkhola rural municipality-4 Kinsang Bhote has been charged of illegally transferring the ownership of 27 ropani of land of local Dal Bahadur Tamang.

A fire has started at local Kopche in Phungling, the district headquarters of Taplejung. The fire broke out at 8:00 am today from a house at Kopche bazaar. A house was gutted to fire and the firefighters and the security personnel are working to douse the fire, it is said.
