PCR testing at community level  

PCR testing has been undertaken in different areas of Tanahun district to identify the status of corona infection at community level.     According to the District Health Office, the testing was carried out in the offices marked with frequent flow of service recipients, garage workshop, banks and financial institutions, office of the security personnel and salons, among others.    

Death toll reaches 75 with two COVID-19 related deaths

Two persons, one male and female succumbed to COVID-19 on August 8, Saturday, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the regular press briefing today.

Bank sealed off after employees test positive for coronavirus 

     The bank employee of 34-year-old from Mahottari district was found positive for the COVID-19. Lahan Municipality's health section chief Ram Sundar Yadav informed that the bank employees were kept in a quarantine facility set up at a local hotel.    

A headless body found in an abandoned suitcase in Gongabu

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa of Metropolitan Crime Division said, "The suitcase with the body was recovered 200 meters distance from Gongabu Chowk to Ganesthan."

  191 Nepalis dies of COVID-19 abroad  

A total of 191 Nepalis living and working in different parts of the world have died of Corona Virus so far. The latest casualty was two Nepalis who died in India last week.     According to the Non-Residential Nepalis Association, new infections were reported last week in India, Australia, Belgium, Poland, France, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Altogether, 146 Nepalis were confirmed positive to the deadly virus in Australia last week.

Three persons from Parsa, Morang and Kathmandu succumbed to COVID-19 in last one day, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Kathmandu Valley records 62 new cases of COVID-19

In 7,788 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 62 persons were found with the virus infection in the Valley itself, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing.

24 persons including three of Pokhara test COVID-19 positive in Gandaki State

Of the 782 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted on Tuberculosis Treatment Center, Pokhara, three persons of Kaski, seven of Syangja, one of Myagdi and 13 of Baglung tested positive for COVID-19, informed Gandaki State Health Directorate.

Biratnagar records 22 new cases of COVID-19, two journalists test positive

After two journalists working at Udgosh Daily of Biratnagar were found with the virus infection, swab samples of other workers of Udgosh daily have also been collected.

Monsoon to become active again: rain forecast for three days   

Monsoon is to be active again, triggering light to moderate rain at most parts of the country for the next two to three days. According to meteorologist Shanti Kandel, monsoon trough is likely to draw closer to the Tarai plains from tonight and cause precipitation.    

  Three killed in road accident

Three people were killed in a car accident here. The deceased are 26-year-old Devendra Chaudhary of Omsatiya rural municipality-4 and Nasap Darji, 27, of Kotahimai rural municipality-3 of Rupandehi district and 12-year-old Pradip Thakur of Ramgram municipality-12, Nawalparasi, State no 5 Traffic Police Office stated.    

Swab collection expedited in community level 

The Sudur Paschim State government has begun collecting swab samples for Corona Virus testing. The health offices in the nine districts have been asked to test Corona Virus at the community level, said Director of the Sudur Paschim Health Directorate Dr Gunaraj Awasthi.    

PM for moving ahead with works in Ayodhyapuri  

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called for study and research on Ayodhyapuri, the birthplace of Hindu God Ram in Nepal. He made the call in a telephone conversation on Friday with the chairperson of ward no. 9 of Madi municipality, where Ayodhyapuri is located.         

Valley administrations to deliver only essential services

A meeting of the Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur and chiefs of other stakeholders held Friday took a decision to halt their services till August 24.

Emergency, surgical services in Gajendra Narayan Hospital halted, doctors, health workers placed in isolation, quarantine

Dr. Ranjit Jha, acting medical superintendent of the hospital, informed that acute shortage of human resource has compelled the hospital to reduce its services. He said seven health workers have been kept in isolation while 27 health professionals including four doctors have been sent to the quarantine.

Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality in Jumla sealed off after detection of a case of COVID-19

According to the notice issued by Narabir Rawat, Chair of Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality, whole of the rural municipality has been sealed off for three days starting from 6th to 9th of August in order to curb the spread of the virus in the community.

Five succumb to COVID-19, death toll climbs to 70

The Ministry of  Health and Population (MoHP) has confirmed five cases of COVID-19 death today. Of the five patients who succumbed to COVID-19, three are from Parsa district and one each from Siraha and Sarlahi districts

Valley CDOs mulling over providing only urgent services from DAOs

Narayan Prasad Bhatta, CDO of Lalipur, said, that meeting was held among three CDOs of the Valley to consider shutting down the Valley or 15 days, considering the increasing threat of COVID-19 spread.
