Gold price increases Rs 1600 per tola to reach Rs 101,400

Price of gold has shot up by Rs 1,600 per tola today to reach Rs 101,400 as compared to Rs 99,800 per tola on Tuesday. Chhapawal (hallmark) gold is traded at Rs 101,400 per tola and Tejabi (worked) gold at Rs 100,900. One tola is 11.66 grammes.

Obstructed Karnali Highway resumes

Traffic has resumed on the Karnali Highway that was obstructed by landslides at various places following clearance of debris, said the road division office, Jumla.     The Highway was blocked by the landslips at approximately 50 places.

Dinesh Thakhulla, an official at the Citizen Help Desk at Trinagar border in Dhangadhi, Kailali, said, “In recent times, more than 100 migrant workers are returning to India for work and more than 200 Nepali migrant workers are coming back to Nepal a day.” 

15 CIAA officials test positive for COVID-19

As many as 15 officials of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) have tested positive for COVID-19. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) on Sunday had collected around 200 swab samples of the officials at the CIAA.

Kathmandu Valley records 51 new cases of COVID-19

In 7,637 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests carried out in the last 24 hours, as many as 51 persons were identified with the virus infection in the Kathmandu Valley itself, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

156 families displaced by monsoon-related disasters in Tanahu   

One hundred and fifty-six households have been displaced by natural disasters triggered by monsoon in Tanahu, the district in Gandaki state. Some of them have lost their homes to the disasters while some were forced to leave the houses due to a high risk of disaster.     According to local government, the displaced families are taking shelter at neighbours’ homes, at community facilities and schools.   

Landslide renders 13 households displaced   

Baglung, Aug 3 : The monsoon rain triggered landslides have rendered at least 13 households displaced at Nisikhola and Dhorpatan in Baglung district. The incessant rain has caused full damage to the house of Narendra Kunwar, a local of Nisikhola rural municipality-1, Devisthan Khara, and inflicted partial damage to the house of Bal Bahadur Malla.    

Dialysis service begins in Beni
