Woman succumbs to wild bees' bite

A woman was stung to death by a swarm of wild bees in eastern Chitwan on Sunday afternoon.     The deceased has been identified as Thagiya Tharuni, 76, of Beltandi, Ratnanagar municipality-9. A swarm of bees suddenly approached her while she was at her home, biting her and leaving severely injured.    

Rapti Academy of Health Sciences starts new and more services 

As parts of its specialized and extended services, the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences has started pediatric service with specialist doctors and medical officers. The pediatric unit was commenced after the specialists including Dr Netra Prasad Banjade joined the Academy, an official at the Academy, Jhankar Lamichhane said.

Two killed in road accident

Two people were killed in a road accident that took place here on the East-West highway last night. Three others were injured.     The accident took place when an auto-rickshaw (Me. 1 Ha. 4919) was hit by a truck with Indian registration number (BR07GH78) at Campus mode in Damak-9, police said.

Five of same family hurt in lightning

Five members of the same family were injured after lightning struck their home here early this morning.     According to District Police Office Banke's chief, Superintendent of Police Bir Bahadur Oli, the injured are Gurudin Khatik, 54, Shyamkala Khatik, 55, Rajitram Khatik,45, Ramrum Khatik,18 and Subik Khatik,4 of Mahapurawa of Nepalgunj-13. The incident happened at 4:45 am.    

Government team inspects no man's land in Sarlahi

An estimated 1,567 babies will be born in Nepal on New Year’s Day, UNICEF said today. Nepalese babies will account for 0.4 per cent of the estimated 392,078 babies to be born on New Year’s Day.    

Ward chair succumbs to cancer 

Ward chair of Birtamod municipality- 7 in Jhapa, Ganga Bahadur Bhattarai, has passed away. He was 63.     He had been battling with cancer since two years and died in course of treatment at Birtamod-based B&C Hospital. His last rites were conducted at the local Deunia River.
