Sarlahi, Jan 3 : A joint team of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and the district administration office inspected no man's land on the Nepal-India border in Sarlahi district.
The team includes joint secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yagya Bahadur Hamal, joint secretary of the Defence Ministry, Yagya Prasad Bhattarai, Brigadier General Sahadev Khadka, Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC and No 10 battalion commander of Armed Police Force Binod Raj Shrestha among others.
The border inspection took place amidst border issue raising at national and international level with the no man's land encroachment, removal of border pillars from Indian side and increasing criminal activities due to open border with India. The team inspected 15 border pillars in Sarlahi district, said CDO GC.
The eight districts in State 2 share 464 kilometres open border with India. There is 51 kilometres open border in Sarlahi district, 32 kilometres in Rautahat, 60 kilometres in Bara district, 107 kilometres in Parsa district, 38 kilometres in Mahottari district, 41 kilometres in Dhanusha district, 57 kilometres in Siraha district and 78 kilometres in Saptari district.
