Not all local level wards have quarantines in Chitwan 

The local levels in Chitwan district had decided to set up at least one quarantine at each ward of the local level.     A meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) had made this decision in view of the possibility of a large number of people from the district coming home from abroad, including India.

Chief of Gandaki State, Amik Sherchan has summoned the State Assembly's budget session for May 24. A meeting of the Gandaki state government on May 17 had recommended the Chief of the State for calling the meeting of the State Assembly.

The Karnali state government has decided to set up a medical screening center at Chhinchu of Surkhet for conducting medical checkup of those returning homes from India amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

Ninety three Nepalis rescued from Rampur of India 

Ninety three people of local Thalara rural municipality, who were stranded in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh of India due to the ongoing lockdown, have reached home.    

Twenty nine journalists test negative for coronavirus   

Twenty nine journalists based in Bhaktapur have tested negative for COVID-19. The swab samples were collected from them on Friday and subjected to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test at the laboratory operated by Nepal-Korea Friendship Hospital. The laboratory has been brought into operation with the support of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality.

Elderly dies in attack by elephant 

An elderly has died in an attack by a wild elephant at Kachankawal rural municipality, south Jhapa. The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old Brikha Bahadur Rai of ward no. 7 in the rural municipality.

Journalist tests positive for COVID-19 in State-1

A journalist has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in State-1. The infected has been admitted to the Biratnagar-based Koshi COVID Hospital. The health condition of the journalist is said to be normal.   

Routine immunisation schedule resumes in Pyuthan 

The routine immunisation schedule which was interrupted by lockdown against the COVID-19 has resumed in Pyuthan. Vaccinations for several sorts of diseases have begun in two phases bearing in mind the health of children and expectant mothers.   

Dang's two COVID-19 patients under isolation care   

  Dang, the district in State 5, on Friday reported first COVID-19 cases. Two people found to be infected with the virus have been brought to the Beljhundi-based Corona Special Hospital in Tulsipur sub-metropolis. They have been under the isolation care since last night, according to hospital medical superintendent Sarbesh Sharma. The infected are from the Gadhawa rural municipality.

Man killed in truck accident  

A person died in a road accident at Chochedanda of Lisankhupakhar rural municipality-1 in Sindhupalchok district on Thursday. The deceased is 38-year-old Krishnabir Tamang of Chochedanda.   

Man killed due to lightning 

A person died after lightning struck him at Rajabas of Katari municipality-3 in Udayapur district on Thursday. The victim is 61-year-old Li Bahadur Sunuwar of Rajabas.   

Former king returns to Kathmandu 

Former king Gyanendra Shah has left here for Kathmandu this morning.     He had been staying at his house at the Himalaya Mahalaxmi Tea Garden at Damak of Jhapa district since some days before the government announced lockdown to stem the spread of COVID-19.  

Health supplies sent to various States 

The government has despatched 14 thousand 700 units rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits to various States by land and air route with the objective of expanding the scope of COVID-19 tests. 

Siraha placed under curfew after surge in number of COVID-19 cases in State 2 

 A curfew order has been issued in Siraha district as precaution after the number of people infected by coronavirus started increasing daily in the neighbouring districts of State-2.

Chinese government hands over medical supplies 

The government of the People's Republic of China has provided medical supplies to the Nepali Army.     China's ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqui, handed over the medical goods to be used for responding to COVID-19 to the Chief of Army Staff, Purna Chandra Thapa on Wednesday.
