Dang, May 16 : Dang, the district in State 5, on Friday reported first COVID-19 cases. Two people found to be infected with the virus have been brought to the Beljhundi-based Corona Special Hospital in Tulsipur sub-metropolis. They have been under the isolation care since last night, according to hospital medical superintendent Sarbesh Sharma. The infected are from the Gadhawa rural municipality.
Earlier, the local government had sent an ambulance to pick them up from separate quarantine centers in Krishnangar in Kapilvastu on Wednesday and had put them in Gadhawa-based Janata Secondary School's quarantine. The two: a 36-year-old of Gadhawa- 4 and a 23-year-old of Gadhawa-5 were migrant workers in India. The first had returned from Gorakhpur while the second had come from Mumbai.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old health worker from Tulsipur-7, Dang who was tested positive for the virus on Friday at the Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Kathmandu is being treated in Kathmandu, said Tulsipur sub-metropolis mayor Ghanashyam Pandey.
