Seven persons held with leopard hide  

A joint investigation team of the Metropolitan Police Sector Bhaktapur and the Metropolitan Police Crime Division has arrested seven people from Bhaktapur for possessing leopard hide.     Police on Tuesday evening arrested four persons from Sudal of Changunarayan municipality and three persons from Darjaling Height of Suryabinayak with the banned wildlife part, Deputy Superintendent Deepak Giri of the Metropolitan Police Sector Bhaktapur said.    

  Six police personnel suspended for taking bribe from service recipients 

Five police personnel working at the office of district police Sindhuli were suspended for their alleged involvement in taking bribe from service recipients.     A special police team deputed from the Bagmati State Police Office took the cops under control on 5 August while the later were receiving bribe from service recipients.

"I strictly abided by the home isolation rules. I made paste mixing two spoonful of turmeric powder, 22 pieces of garlic, black salt, black pepper, two piece of onion and a lemon and took it three times a day. In the beginning I took even 12 glasses of coconut water but later on I took 6 glasses a day," shared Yadav.

Galyang hospital resumes services after two months   

Two months after its closure, the Galyang Municipal Hospital in Syangja's Galyang Municipality was brought into operation from Monday, Hospital's Chief Thanapati Neupane said.     The hospital's services were halted for fear of community transfer of coronavirus after a doctor there tested positive for the virus.    

42 COVID-19 cases at a single village of Launiya in Saptari

Duniya Lal Yadav, acting chief of Saptari District Health Office, informed that the number of infected persons in Launiya village had reached 42 with the report of five newly infected persons of the same village.

Woman health worker beaten in Baitadi

Mohan Kunwar, 24, and Birendra Kunwar, 21, of Purchaudi Municipality-3 beat the health worker. Bhatta explained, "I was attending to an elderly patient who was hard of hearing. I spoke to her in a loud voice to which the youths reacted harshly and beat me saying, "Is this the way you render health services to the patients?"

Number of COVID-19 infected police personnel reaches 369

Of the total active infection cases, 116 are from the Police Headquarters, 14 personnel from Kathmandu Valley, 21 from State-1, thirty six from State-2, two from Bagmati State, 19 from Gandaki State, 11 from State-5, and one from Sudurpaschim State. The infected police personnel of Karnali State have however all been discharged after recovery.

395 thousand people face action for not wearing face mask 

The government has held and taken action against 395 thousand people throughout the country for not using facemask after lockdown was imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19.     This many people were taken under control and released after informing them of the importance of wearing facemask. They were also fined.    

Pasang Lhyamu highway resumes operation   

The Pasang Lhyamu highway which has been obstructed due to landslide since 3 August has come into re-operation.     Road traffic had come to a grinding halt at Dhunche Syafrubich Thulobharkhu ridge with the highway getting crumbled.    

Motorcyclist dies in accident 

A motorcycle rider has died in a road accident that took place last night. Suman Katwal Shrestha,29, of Kamal Binayak died after the motorcycle (Ba. 66 Pa. 2810) was hit by a jeep (Ba. 19 Cha. 3384) heading towards Jagati from Chayamasingh of Bhaktapur municipality.    

Five injured in clash between two youth groups 

Five persons were injured in a clash that took place between two groups in Tikapur of Kailali. The youths of ward no. 6 and 9 of the municipality were involved in a gang flight on Saturday evening, according to the Area Police Office, Tikapur.    

Monsoon to become active again: rain forecast for three days   

Monsoon is to be active again, triggering light to moderate rain at most parts of the country for the next two to three days. According to meteorologist Shanti Kandel, monsoon trough is likely to draw closer to the Tarai plains from tonight and cause precipitation.    

Alcohol sale and consumption banned   

The Puchaundi municipality and Dilasaini rural municipality in the district have imposed a ban on the consumption and marketing of alcohol. A decision to this end was taken by the alcohol control committee citing the various problems that alcoholism has invited to the society at large.    

Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality in Jumla sealed off after detection of a case of COVID-19

According to the notice issued by Narabir Rawat, Chair of Kanaka Sundari Rural Municipality, whole of the rural municipality has been sealed off for three days starting from 6th to 9th of August in order to curb the spread of the virus in the community.

Valley CDOs mulling over providing only urgent services from DAOs

Narayan Prasad Bhatta, CDO of Lalipur, said, that meeting was held among three CDOs of the Valley to consider shutting down the Valley or 15 days, considering the increasing threat of COVID-19 spread.

Elephant kills man in Jhapa   

A man was killed in an elephant attack here in the wee hours today. The Area Police Office, Damak has identified the deceased as Rohit Regmi,58, of Tukre of Kamal rural municipality-5, Jhapa.     According to inspector of police Bhawan Babu Khadka, a pair of elephants from nearby Ratuwamai Tree Plantation Project entered the settlement at around 2:00 am today to dismantle the hut where the Regmi family was residing in. Two children go missing in Daraudi 

Two children went missing in the Daraudi River in Gorkha. The missing are Sabin Shrestha, 16, of Palungtar municiplaity-1, Khurpajung and Prajjwal Shrestha, 15, informed Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office Gorkha, Basudev Khatiwada.

16 APF personnel in Ilam test positive for COVID-19

Out of 42 swab samples collected from APF personnel on Aug. 2 for the PCR test, 18 were found to have got infected with the virus. Bimal Baral, Corona focal person of the Ilam District Health Office, informed that so far 46 APF personnel of this APF, Nepal, Barah Brigade No. 1 battalion have tested positive for COVID-19.
