By Devram Prasad Yadav, Saptari, Aug. 11: As many as 42 persons of a single village of Launiya, Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-2 in Saptari district, have tested positive for COVID-19.
Duniya Lal Yadav, acting chief of Saptari District Health Office, informed that the number of infected persons in Launiya village had reached 42 with the report of five newly infected persons of the same village. PCR testing of the five persons was conducted in the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
The number of infected have soared because of the villagers' frequent visits to Kunauli, bordering Indian market.
Total number of infected persons in the whole of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality until now stands at 88 including 12 women, which makes this RM the second most infected local level in the district. Number of COVID-19 cases in Saptari has till the date reached 576 with 67 women.
With the rising number of infected persons, the rural municipality has set up a 100 bed isolation center, where 83 patients are staying at present. Mobility to Kunauli, the Indian town in the border, has also been restricted.
