The District Administration Office here has imposed the prohibitory order again in a bid to contain the increasing spread of COVID-19 in the district. The decision was taken after forging consensus at the district security committee.    

With restrictions on vehicular movement, Prithvi Highway looks deserted

After complete restriction was imposed to enter the Valley due to increasing cases of COVID-19, only ambulances, vehicles carrying food supplies, and other vehicles used for essential services are seen running on the Prithvi highway, a gateway for 69 districts leading to the capital city.

One dead, one missing after motorcycle plunges into river   

One person has died while a second is missing after a motorcycle fell into the Sano Rapti river in Dang last night. Two people traveling on a motorcycle (Lu. 57 Pa. 1100) fell into the river after hitting the bridge over the river in the incident that took place at Balrampur at 11:00 pm last light on the Lamahi-Gadhawa road section, said police inspector at the Ward Police Office, Gadhawa Prajjwal Thapaliya.    

People's gathering restricted in Budhanikantha-10   

A gathering of over five people has been prohibited in Budhanilkantha municipality-10. A ward level disaster management committee on August 13 took a decision to this regard, citing the increasing COVID-19 infection in the locality for sometimes.

One arrested for fleecing migrant workers 

Police have arrested a person on the charge of fleecing people heading towards India for work. Nine persons who had arrived at the Trinagar customs point were charged money illegally by the person.

50 health workers of Nepalgunj Teaching Hospital placed in quarantine, isolation, services affected

The health workers were sent into isolation and quarantine after some of them were found infected with the virus while some of them were in close contact with the patients who came for health services in the hospital and later tested positive for COVID-19.

Bharatpur metropolis into weeklong lockdown

An emergency meeting of the disaster management committee chaired by the metropolis Mayor Renu Dahal took a decision in this regard in view of increasing cases, said Mayor Dahal. During the lockdown period, vehicles except for the ones operated for essential services are barred.

The weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country today with chances of light to moderate rain in many places due to the influence of the monsoon low pressure system, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.    

   Absconding drug abuse convict arrested after eight years  

The District Police Office Tanahun arrested an absconding drug abuse convict on Thursday. Police arrested Sanjaya Gharti, 25, a resident of Byas municipality-1, Bhadgaun Bigyanchaur in the district.     He went at large when the District Court sentenced him to eight days in jail along with a fine of Rs 4,000 on 29 May 2012. After more than eight years, police nabbed the convict and presented before the court.  

NHRC asks government for diplomatic move to ensure rights of migrants

Releasing a study report on rights of Nepali migrant workers affected from the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHRC has asked for a diplomatic initiative to stop the illegal activities like unilaterally terminating the job contract in the destination countries, forcing them to stay for non-payable leave and ousting them from the jobs.

AMDA Hospital sealed off after doc contracts coronavirus   

 The AMDA Hospital in the district is sealed off after a doctor in the hospital was found infected with COVID-19. All kinds of services to be provided from the hospital are halted since Wednesday.     The hospital sources have shared that the infected doctor is under treatment at the upper floor of the hospital. It is stated that the deadly Coronavirus pandemic was found transmitted in the community after a15-year-old boy of Mechinagar-10 Dhulabari was found infected recently.    

Ratamate-Batase-Kavre road obstructed since past two weeks  

The Ratamate-Batase-Kavre road section in western part of the district is still obstructed due to landslides. The road section at Mahankal Rural Municipality is obstructed due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall occurred on July 20 and 21.

Adolescent girl dies of scrub typhus

An adolescent girl died of scrub typhus infection in Baitadi district. The deceased has been identified as Puja Joshi, 14, of Dogadakedar rural municipality-3, Shreekot.     Puja breathed her last on the way to the Kohalpur Medical College for treatment.

Journalist Baniya found dead

The body was found stuck in the wire mesh of the filter of the Mandu hydroelectricity project at Sisneri, Bhimphedi rural municipality in Makawanpur district, the Metropolitan Crime Control Division said.

Former Mayor of Janakpurdham dies from COVID-19

According to the deceased family member, Anurag Giri, infection of COVID-19 was confirmed in the former mayor of Janakpurdham while under treatment in the hospital, and that Nepali Army personnel were making preparations for disposal of the body.

Woman rescued from forced sex trade   

A Nepali woman who was allegedly subjected to flesh trade after being trafficked to India from Kathmandu a year ago has been rescued and send back to home. The rescue was possible with the help of Rescue Foundation run by Afanta Nepal.
