166 new COVID-19 cases confirmed today, 1567 national tally, 119,192 in quarantine

162 males and four females from Syangja, Parsa, Kalikot, Dailekh, Bajura, Surkhet, Kapilvastu, Banke, Saptari, Kailali, Jhapa, Morang, Dhanusa, Rautahat and Sarlahi tested COVID-19 positive in RT-PCR test,  informed Dr Bikash Devkota, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press brief today.

64 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in State 2, tally hits 613

Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire, secretary of the ministry said that 28 persons of Rautahat, 21 of Dhanusha, 10 of Sarlahi and five of Parsa were detected with COVID-19 infection.

Constitution amendment bill presented in HoR meeting

Constitution of Nepal (2nd amendment) bill, 2077 was registered in the federal parliament on May 22 in order to adjust Nepal's genuine map in the Coat of Arms. The government recently released the revised map of the country. The revised map has incorporated the places Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani in its territory.    

  Karnali State records 123 COVID-19 cases 

The number of people infected with coronavirus has reached 123 in Karnali State. With the latest updates- 33 on Saturday and 18 this morning, the total caseload reached 123.

1,048 locals enter from Nepal-India border 

One thousand and forty-eight people have entered the country in the past three days from the Nepal-India border in Jhulaghat. They were rescued from across the border. 

Woman in Quarantine gives birth  

A woman in a quarantine centre has given birth. Mina BK,19, a resident of ward no. 2 in Thatikhanda rural municipality gave birth to a baby girl on Friday. She was staying at the quarantine set up at the Janata Basic School 

  13-year-old infected with dengue, cases reach 10 

The number of Dengue infection cases is on the rise in Myagdi, along with Corona Virus infection. On Saturday, a 13-year-old girl of Barangja in ward no. 3 of Mangala rural municipality was found infected with Dengue.  

Yoga class for mental and physical well-being of quarantined people

 Madi municipality in Chitwan has conducted yoga classes for stress management targeting 153 people staying in four quarantines.    

Online media in priority to get information   

The media consumers from different professions have said they give priority to the online media to get daily information at a time when the lockdown is enforced to contain COVID-19 in Nepal. It was revealed by a survey conducted by Press Council Nepal on 'credibility of media in COVID-19 crisis.'  

    Ayurvedic medicines rendered to COVID-19 patients in Syangja 

Ayurvedic drug has been tested in COVID-19 patients receiving treatment at the isolation care of District Hospital here.     The medicine was brought into use as per the protocol developed by the Department of Ayurved and Alternative Medicine Kathmandu to increase the immune system of the patient.   

Fall armyworm outbreak in Bhojpur 

Farmers in Bhojpur are worried after their maize crop has been damaged by an outbreak of fall armyworm, a kind of agricultural pest. The outbreak of the pest has been seen in Temkemaiyung, Pauwadung and Arun rural municipalities of the district.

25 per cent of those placed in quarantine infected with COVID-19 in Jhapa

25 per cent of people in quarantine have tested positive for the virus, said a health worker of Kachankawal Rural Municipality. After confirmation of 27 positive cases of virus infection on Friday, increasing the tally of Kachankawal to 100, the local representatives have been raising question on the management of quarantines.

One more COVID-19 death confirmed today, death toll reaches 6

A 35-year old male of Bhumikastan Municipality, Argakhachi, who breathed his last on May 23 was found to be COVID-19 positive, said Dr Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the daily press briefing today.

Rain forecast for three more days 

The weather will be cloudy across the country with chances of rain for three more days due to the influence of the Westerly wind and local wind, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said. 

Seventy three COVID-19 cases found in a single rural municipality

The Kachanakawal rural municipality among the 15 local levels in Jhapa district has reported the highest number people with coronavirus infection. Out of the 79 COVID-19 cases in the district, 73 are from this rural municipality, the District Health Office Jhapa said.    

Budget for agriculture up by 6.6 billion

Presenting the annual budget for fiscal year 2020/21 in a joint session at the Federal Parliament on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the government had increased budget for commercialisation, modernisation and mechanisation of agriculture by mobilising the available labour forces.

Presenting budget for Fiscal Year 2020/21, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said, "The primary works of Melamchi Drinking Water Project has completed and the service would operate from upcoming year."
