Lithuania extends medical support to Nepal to fight COVID-19

Two killed in accident

Two people were killed when a truck hit a motorcycle at Gabhar along the East-West highway in Banke district this morning.

Over 150 houses in Bajura at risk of dry landslide   

A dry landslide has continued to fall at Swamikartik Rural Municipality-1 at east northern belt in Bajura district, putting over 150 houses at risk of being washed away. The landslip at the lower part of Runi village and near Chhuddari village has caused risks of the Karnali river being blocked, said the local residents.    

Escaped convict repatriated from Portugal

“Dhungana was among a dozen individuals who committed a forgery of Rs. 27.176 million from the then Deva Development Bank through vehicle loan. They had provided fake vehicle documents to receive the loan from the bank’s branches in Kathmandu and Lalitpur,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Shyam Kumar Mahato.

One killed in road accident  

A teenager has died in a road accident at Lamki Chuha Municipality-6 in Kailali district. The deceased has been identified as Gopal Chaudhary, 19, of the same locality, according to the Area Police Office, Lamki.    

Monsoon to remain active for one week more 

The monsoon is to remain active throughout the country next week. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said the monsoon will become active this coming week as well since the monsoon low-pressure system is close to the Tarai region.

Janaipoornima and Gaijatra festival to be limited to formalities  

The Gaijatra or Saparu festival, which falls on August 23 this year, will be celebrated in Bhaktapur only as a formality.
