Damak generating fuel, fertiliser from waste

f all goes as planned, Damak, in Jhapa district, is set to produce energy from the waste, and the efforts towards that goal is gaining steam. According to Damak Municipality's Environment Department Chief Gyanendra Chaudhari, a waste processing centre, which converts discarded materials into fuel such as gas, compost manure, and liquid fertilizers, is being set up for that purpose.

Himalayan gorals sighted in Shuklaphanta

Nepali Congress leader Joshi undergoes surgery for stroke 

Nepali Congress leader Nabindra Raj Joshi has suffered a stroke. He was rushed to the Bir Hospital last night after he complained of health complications before taking him to the Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital for further treatment, according to the family source.    

Uncultivated land being tilled after incentives

Phedikhola Rural Municipality of Syanja district has decided to provide incentives to the farmers cultivating the land left untilled for two consecutive years. The rural municipality brought such scheme last fiscal year to involve the youths in agriculture, said Chairperson Ghanashyam Subedi.    

Morang farmers worry over import of Indian vegetables

When tomatoes from India entered the Nepali market at a lower price, local tomatoes started getting spoilt in the field. The tomatoes that vendors had been buying for 20 rupees per kg in later January are not being sold even at 10 rupees per kg in mid-February.

Chitwan rhinos migrating towards west

With water sources increasingly drying up and grassland degrading, rhinoceros inhabiting the eastern part of Chitwan national park (CNP) are migrating towards the west in search of a better habitat. Experts worry that these desperate westward movements has further endangered their survival.
