Shaligram museum built at Tapudham 

A museum has been constructed at Tapudham of Rampur municipality-1 for preserving the 'shaligram' which is found only in the Kaligandaki river. Shaligram is the fossil ammonite stones and are venerated by the Hindus as the form of their god Bishnu. 

Woman lands in police net for running sex trade in India 

A Nepali woman has been arrested on the charge of running a brothel in India. The accused is Rukmaya Tamang (Chameli), 62, of the then Gaunkharkha VDC-9 in Nuwakot.  She is alleged of her involvement in women trafficking from Nepal and of forced prostitution. It has been revealed that her illicit business was based in 56 number colony of GB Road in New Delhi.    

Helpless people receive citizenship at doorstep

Krishna Prasad Sharma, Chief District Officer, himself went to the doorstep of Sarki to hand over him his citizenship. CDO Sharma said, “Because of being paralysed, Sarki is unable to commute to the municipality on his own so he was handed over with the citizenship at his doorstep.”

Eight killed in tiger attack in Bardiya   

The latest victim of a tiger attack was a 28-year-old Renuka Sunar of Madhuban Municipality-3. Sunar was attacked and killed by a tiger on Wednesday while collecting fodder at the border of Kothiyaghat community forest and Samjhana community forest at Madhuban Municipality-3.

Man swept away   

A person has been swept away by the Seti River from Dhorphedi of Shuklagandaki Municipality-8, Tanahu. The Area Police Office Belchautara informed that a local Bhim Bahadur Thapa, 46, was swept away by the river on Thursday.         

Nepali worker dies in Korea  

A Nepali worker died in an accident in South Korea. Ashok Shreesmagar, 45, working at a rice mill in Thegu City died in the accident on Monday.

On Tuesday night, a joint team from Kanchanpur District Police Office and Area Police Office, Gulariya arrested 25-year-old Sanjay Rana with counterfeit currencies and fake currency printing machines.

Nepali Congress (NC) president Sher Bahadur Deuba has offered sorrow over demise of former Vice President of the NC Gulmi, Laxman Singh Thapa.  Thapa died on Wednesday in his residence in Durbar Rural Municipality in Gulmi district. He was 72.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the kidney Specialist Service will be launched in Nepal soon. Addressing an awareness program organized on the occasion of World Kidney Day today, PM said that experts including nephrologists and Dean of the Institute of Medical Prof Dr. Divya Singh Shah were working to establish such services soon.

Five passengers injured in taxi accident in Beni

A taxi with the number DHA 1 JA 475 met with an accident injuring 5 passengers. The taxi was returning to Beni from Galeshwor temple carrying devotees. Galeshwor temple of Myagdi of Beni Municipality 1 is a very popular temple among the devotees. The five passengers who met with an accident belonged to one family who had boarded into taxi after visiting the temple.

Weather: Thundershower forecast in some places of hilly region  

The weather will be partly to generally cloudy with the possibility of thundershower along with lightning in the hilly region of the country towards the afternoon today, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.

Millions of devotees have thronged the Pashupatinath temple since this morning on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. All the four doors of the temple were opened for the occasion in the early morning. A flock of people was observed standing in a queue and waiting for their turn to worship their God Shiva even before the main gates were open. Mahashivaratri, celebrated every year at midnight on Falgun Krishna Chaturdashi, is a special day to please and honor Lord Shiva. 

Hunting costly for Nepali tourists, Rs 70-80 lakhs for hunting a Blue Sheep

It has been 38 years since the establishment of the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, the only hunting reserve of Nepal. In all these years, not even a single Nepali has gone hunting. Birendra Prasad Kandel, Chief Conservation Officer said that no Nepali has so far taken the legal permission for hunting even though the team of an international team of hunters often goes for hunting.

A climate change town hall meeting (Kachahari) organized at Sarkegad rural municipality of Humla to educate the public on climate change issues recently concluded.

He said this while exiting from the meeting of the House of Representatives today. Leader Mahato reminded that they had withdrawn support to this government before this as it failed to fulfill the agreement reached with it with the condition that it would meet their demands. He said that now discussions would be held with all sides regarding those demands.

Myagdi’s copper mines lying unused, buried in forests  

Copper mines detected in different areas of Myagdi district have been lying unused and buried in the forests. Some 17 big copper mines of Dhawalagiri, Malika and Raghuganga rural municipality and Beni municipality of the district have not come into resumption due to legal hassles and lack of modern equipment.
