Another set of grant agreements for implementing the program were signed by Asakuma Yumiko, Chief Representative of JICA Nepal, and Shreekrishna Nepal, Joint Secretary, the International Economic Cooperation and Coordination Division of the Ministry of Finance, according to a press release issued by the Japanese embassy.

Over 34 thousand Nepalese repatriated home from abroad via chartered flights

Dearth of health service, food shortage claim people's lives in Jajarkot

One held with illegal possession of Rs 2 million  

A person has been arrested with illegal possession of Rs 2 million from Soharuwa of Siraha Municipality-19. A team of Armed Police Force mobilized from Lagadigadiyani arrested Sukdev Thakur, 37, a resident of Laxmipur in Arnama Rural Municipality of the district.

Drinking water project at risk of flood, landslide 

The under-construction Baribeni Broader Lifting Drinking Water Project located at Jaljala rural municipality-3 of Parbat district is at the risk of flood and landslide. The drinking water project is under construction at a cost of Rs 130 million.    

Unruly gang set ward office on fire  

An unidentified group last night set the office building of Shuklaphanta Municipality Ward No. 7 on fire. Administrative office, meeting hall and the office room of ward secretary have been damaged in the fire, it is said.    

Leopard census to begin in Bhanu

Woman dead as landslide buries house in Syangja

The District Police Office (DPO) Syangja's Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Adhikari confirmed the death of Maya Saru (Yam Kumari) of Simalsaura. Her daughter Narayani, 20, was rescued by the locals.

Pregnant mother rescued by Army helicopter  

An expectant mother was rescued today by Nepal Army (NA) helicopter from Sappata of Swamikartik rural municipality-1 in the north-east part of Bajura, the district in Sudurpaschim state. She is local Sharmila Budha, 23, and was taken to Nepalgunj.    

One killed, three injured in landslide 

Bibek Darnal, 15, of Mechinagar-9 died when landslide buried a house at Buddhashanti rural municipality-7, Motidanda in Jhapa.     Police verified that the landslide occurred on Tuesday night had buried the house of Tej Kumar Baraili of Buddhashanti-7 leaving Darnal dead.    

Flood sweeps away two bridges in Olangchungola

Incessant rain triggered flood in a local river has swept away two bridges at Olangchungola in Taplejung.     The flood-fed river took away the bridges of Olangchungola sharing border with China in Faktanglung rural municiplaity-7 last night, informed ward chairperson Chheten Bhote.   

Community schools in Hetauda resume classes maintaining social distancing

Decision to resume classes was taken after finding an increased cases of mental problems in students during the lockdown. We have maintained social distance and cleanliness very well in the schools, said education coordinator, Hari Chandra Sapkota.

Paragliding to start on Deurali- Aaledanda in Ghandruk 

The Annapurna rural municipality in Kaski, the district in Gandaki state, is preparing to launch paragliding from Deurali to Aaaledanda of Ghandruk.      Rural municipality chair Yubaraj Kunwar said the preparations for launching the service were on, targetting people having interests in adventurous sports like paragliding.    

Lamjung jail crammed   

The Lamjung District Jail is facing several problems as the number of inmates is more than threefold its capacity.     Though it can accommodate 35 inmates 75 prisoners are living there. Of them, 69 are males while six are female. The prison has the capacity to accommodate 10 women and 25 males only.     According to jailor Bishnu Prasad Poudel, the inmates are facing acute shortage of basic facilities in accommodation.    

  IEDs detected in multiple locations in Dhangadhi  

Improvised explosive devices (IEDs) placed at different three locations in Dhangadhi have been deactivated by the Nepal Army (NA). It is to yet to be known who planted the pressure cooker bombs near the State's social development ministry, infrastructure development ministry and at the LN Chowk.    

Three from same family die in landslide 

Three persons were killed after a landslide buried their house at Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-6 in the district. Those losing lives are Milan Khand, 22, his spouse Samjhana, 20, and 18-month old baby, according to Information Officer of District Police Office, Rupak Khadka.
