One killed in landslide

A person died when landslide swept him away in Palpa district on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Aryal, 30, of Rambha rural municipality-1, according to the District Police Office, Palpa.    

  Damauli-Dumre route reopens two-way after weeklong disruption   

The Damauli-Dumre road section along the Prithvi Highway has reopened for two-way traffic from Monday night following a week-long disruption.      The highway was closed for traffic after its part at the Damauli-Dumre section caved-in on July 21 due to incessant rains. Tanahu's Assistant Chief District Officer Chitrangat Baral said the route had been readied for the two-way operation with the completion of its restoration.

Four die in rain-caused disaster  

Four persons died in rain-caused disaster at various places of Baglung district.          A landslide occurred at Tamankhola Rural Municipality-2 last night killed two teenagers. As the house belonging to Pal Bahadur BK crumbled with landslide, it killed Khima Bahadur BK, 13, and Rita BK, 12.    

10 houses in Durlung at high risk: geologists   

Geologists have recommended the administration here to immediately shift 10 houses of Durlung village in the district to a safer location. The houses in the vicinity of the landslide occurred two weeks back are in high risk of further disaster, the geologists warned after holding field study.    

One dies, four sick after consuming wild mushroom   

A boy died while four others from the same family became sick after consuming wild mushroom in Dadeldhura district. An 8-year-old boy Lalit Dhami from Nawadurga Rural Municipality-3 died on the way to hospital after he became sick with the consumption of the toxic mushroom, police said.    

Hydropower project ignores environment conservation 

The locals have been united and voicing against the project that it was not paying heed to environmental concerns. Even the small stream and tributaries to Mai River were usurped by the project, said Kush Bahadur Thebe, adding that although it was not big concern in the rainy season, the river and tributaries would be dry in winter season.    

Girl goes missing in Ilam

Anaska Rai who was living with her maternal uncle at Birtamode, Jhapa has gone missing since July 13 as she was reportedly heading to her home in Ilam. She is the 10th grader student of Bright English School, Jhapa.

2nd NRN Global Knowledge Convention to take place on October 9 -11

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), in coordination with the Government of Nepal, will organise the 2nd NRN Global Knowledge Convention from October 9-11, it has been said. The convention will be organised online or physically depending on the situation created by global COVID-19 pandemic, said the NRNA.
