SNP more focused on conservation of Finn's Weaver   

The Shuklaphanta National Park (SNP) has come up with further efforts to protect rare Finn's Weaver. Sunaulo Topchara is the Nepali name for this bird which is globally vulnerable and critically endangered. It is found only in SNP, Nepal and India of South Asia.    

   Mid-hill Highway resumes 

The Baglung section along the Mid-Hill (Pushpalal) Highway which had remained disrupted due to a landslide since Tuesday resumed one-way from the Thursday evening.     The highway was disrupted following the massive landslide at Bokse of Baglung municipality-3. One-way traffic resumes on Narayangadh-Muglin road section   

One-way traffic has opened on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section after removing the landslide debris. Landslide had occurred at 4.20 am today at a place called Charkilo of Ichhakamana rural municipality-6. The road was brought into operation at 9.10 am. 

Prithvi highway disrupted again 

Damauli-Dumre road section along the Prithvi Highway has been disrupted again.     Traffic along the highway remained obstructed again following the vehicles got stuck on the alternative route. The route was constructed to ease the vehicular movement after the highway road went down from its level.     Earlier too, the highway traffic was obstructed due to recurring landslides triggered by incessant monsoon rainfall.   

Palung-Naubise road section obstructed   

The Palung-Naubise road section along the Tribhuvan Highway has come to a halt.     Police Inspector of Area Police Office Khanikhola Ruk Bahadur Khadka informed a landslide occurred at Satghumti along the road section since this morning disrupted the road traffic here.     Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded on the road with the traffic disruption.    

Swab samples collection of workers searching jobs begins 

Collection of swab samples of the workers who are being gathered at Tribhuvan Chowk of Nepalgunj in search for work has started.     Banke district's corona focal person Naresh Shrestha said the swab collection began from Thursday onward. The District Health Office took the initiative with support from Kasaudhan Baiswa Samaj and Nepal Red Cross Society.    

Landslide at Charkilo area again disrupts Narayangadh-Muglin road   

Landslide again took place at Ichhakamana rural municipality-6, Charkilo along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section this morning.     According to the District Police Office Chitwan, landslide occurred at the same place immediately after resuming one-way traffic with the removal of debris off the road last night.  

National ID card distribution drive to complete in three years   

The distribution of national ID card has begun in Morang district.     Morang District Coordination Committee chief Naresh Pokharel and Biratnagar metropolis deputy mayor Indira Karki jointly opened the registration service for ID card amidst a programme at the District Administration Office on Thursday.    

Minister Thapa bats for new development policy to prevent natural disasters

Addressing a meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority's executive committee at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar on Thursday, Minister Thapa sarcastically hit out, "Development policy here meant 'dozer policy'. Our engineers became dozer drivers which is inviting disaster."

Growth projected to be tepid at 2.1 per cent in FY2021, says World Bank
