Financial assistance for setting up coronavirus testing lab  

The International Jhapali Society has provided a financial assistance of Rs 2.5 million for purchasing a PCR machine for the coronavirus testing laboratory at Kotihom, Kankai municipality-4 in Jhapa district.    

East-West Highway blocked after death of woman in accident 

The East-West Highway in Kailali has been disrupted following the death of a woman in a road accident.      A truck (Se 6 Pa 7181) hit a scooter (Na 6 Kha 3340) at Bauniya of Darbgoriya of Kailali leaving the rider dead.

  Air service resumes in Bajura 

Air service has resumed in Bajura district.     Due to incessant rainfall, rural roads from Martadi to other parts of the district have been completely closed. The air companies that closed their domestic flight services in the district since 24 March 2020 have resumed the service.    

  Mechinagar goes for 'mass-testing' of coronavirus 

In a suspected transmission of coronavirus at community level, Mechinagar municipality in Jhapa has started conducting 'mass-testing' from Sunday onward.     Mechinagar municipality and the District Health Office Jhapa have jointly started 'mass-testing' from eastern checkpoint at Kakadbhitta.    

State government places emphasis on tourism development-Minister Lamsal  

Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of the Gandaki State, Bikas Lamsal said the hidden tourism treasures of the rural areas should be transformed into opportunities in global market.     Minister Lamsal said this at a sapling plantation programme organized by Mahendra Cave Infrastructure Development Committee on the Mahendra cave premises on Sunday. 

Coronavirus claims one in Dhanusha  

A 38-year-old man from Shahidnagar-8, Dumariya died of coronavirus infection in Dhanusha on Sunday.     The man was admitted to the State Hospital Janakpur after he grew some critical symptoms like sneezing, cough and fever.

One more Nepali died of novel coronavirus this week abroad. According to Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Health Committee, the death is from the United Kingdom.    

Committee concerned about implementation status of safe motherhood rights

A meeting of the committee today directed the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies for the same. The meeting discussed the practices of maternity leave related with the safe motherhood and reproductive health rights.    

  Landslide-obstructed Beshisahar-Chame road still inoperative  

The Beshishahar-Chame road in Lamjung district that was disrupted a week back due to landslide has not resumed yet.     Landslides had occurred in various places of the 65-kilometre road that links Lamjung with Manang district.
