Commitment to double tiger population will be fulfilled-PM   

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the commitment to double the population of tiger by 2022 would be fulfilled.     Delivering a message on the occasion of the International Tiger Day-2020 today, he said the government has been conducting several activities for the conservation of tigers by engaging communities and stakeholders to realize the commitment.   

Construction of 132-KV capacity sub-station completes

One of the two power transformers installed at the sub-station and having capacity of 132/33 KV and 30 MVA respectively has been charged on no-load. Project chief Raman Raj Sharma informed electricity flown to Bharatpur from Hetauda through the 132-KV transmission line was successfully charged.    

Landslide disrupts road leading to Bhotkhola   

The monsoon rain-induced landslide has disrupted the road leading to Bhotkhola in Sankhuwasabha district.     North-South Road Office chief Engineer Gautam Kumar Shrestha informed the road section leading to Bhotkhola rural municipality from district headquarters Khandbari has been obstructed following landslides at Makalu rural municipality-3, Sammatar along the North-South road section.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appreciated the significant contributions of the national park and forest administration, security mechanisms including the Nepal Army, local community and the concerned organizations in the conservation of tigers as well as in the prevention of tiger poaching and smuggling.

Landslide claims two in Rukum West  

Two persons were killed when landslide swept away a house at Banphikot rural municipality-9 in Rukum (West) district on Tuesday morning.     The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Nabin BK, son of Jasbir Kami, and 16-year-old Bal Bahadur Sunar, son of Hasta Bahadur Sunar, said Police.    

Banke Health Office expands COVID-19 testing coverage   

The District Health Office, Banke has increased the testing coverage for COVID-19 at the community level with the fall in the number of people in quarantine.      The test is primarily focused on employees, health/medical workers, police personnel, media personnel and workers as these people are apparently more vulnerable to the infection.   

85 per cent beneficiaries receive second installment

For the reconstruction of the private houses demolished after the Gorkha Earthquake, almost 85 per cent have received the amount of second installment till the end of the fiscal year 2076/77 BS.     Of the recipient of second installment, 76 per cent received the amount of third installment, according to the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).

The price of gold and silver, which is unstable in the international market due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rose abruptly in the domestic market as well today.     The price of yellow metal went up by Rs 2,400 per tola (1.6 grams) today.

Monsoon becomes active again: rainfall likely for three days   

Rainfall is taking place in most places of the country with the monsoon becoming active again. Meteorologist Raju Pradhananga said the rainfall is occurring as the low pressure system is positioned close to the Tarai region of the country since Monday night.
