Local levels smart in announcing popular programmes fail implementation  

With the federalism put in place, the three-tier governments began to bring policy and programmes on their own. The local levels were elated to bring the budget in a bid to solve various local problems and intensify development activities.    

Traffic disruption affects life in Mustang

Life in Mustang, the district beyond the Himalaya, has been affected with the disruption of transportation services. Traffic from neighbouring district Myagdi to Jomsom area has come to a total halt for 20 days due to landslides at several locations. 

West Baglung area to be connected with electricity this year 

 Burtibang, the second biggest market in Dhorpatan municipality in western part of Baglung district, is likely to have electricity from the National Transmission Grid within this fiscal year.     Target was to connect the place with electricity last fiscal year which could not be materialized owing to various reasons including landslide along the way electricity poles were to be erected.    

Kirant museum building works continues

Works to build a Kirant Museum goes on at Ribdung Maheshwori of Aiselukharkha rural municipality-5 in the district. To date, construction of a cemented roof on the first floor has been completed.     The museum construction project aims to protect artifacts, attire and historic, religious and cultural values and life of the Kirant people.    

Godavari municipality for not observing Gaijatra-related events

The Godavari municipality in Lalitpur has called for not observing other events related to the upcoming Gaijatra festival except the major one for the health safety of municipality folks. The local government's call came at a time when the global pandemic of coronavirus is posing increasing threat to health.    

Son dead, father injured in road accident 

One person died and another was injured in a road accident involving a truck at Makwanpur this morning. Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, who was riding the truck (Na. 4 Kha. 704), was injured while his 20-year-old son Raj travelling with him died.

COVID-19 death toll climbs to 161   

One more Nepali died to Corona Virus infection outside the country, taking the toll to 161. One Nepali died in the United Kingdom on Saturday evening, according to the Non-resident Nepali Association, Health Committee. Two drivers missing after tractor, tipper buried  

Two people have gone missing after a tipper, an excavator and tractor were buried in landslide near Niyarghat of Baglung municipality-1. The incident took place last night at around 8:00 pm, when landslides buried the tractor (Dha.1Cha.47), tipper (Ga.1Kha.4637) and excavator, said police inspector at the District Police Office, Dipak Rijal.
