Light to moderate rain forecast today

The weather will remain partly to generally cloudy throughout the country today with chances of light to moderate rain in many places due to the influence of the monsoon low pressure system, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said.    

Government ramps up enforcement of its decisions to check COVID-19 transmission   

In order to ensure the effective enforcement of the cabinet decisions for the prevention and control of the virus transmission, the Home Ministry has directed its subordinate bodies and all district administration offices across the country. 

CIAA sees most of the complaints related to local level   

Most of the complaints registered at the Surkhet-based office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) have been found to be related to the local level.     According to the office, 554 out of 1,080 graft cases registered during the past one year are related to local level.

  One missing, four vehicles buried in landslide along Tribhuvan Highway   

A person went missing and four vehicles were buried in a mound of landslide occurred at Thaha municipality-12, Gairigaun in Makawanpur along the Tribhuvan Highway.     Kale Moktan, 54, a local, went missing in the landslide, confirmed Police Inspector of the Area Police Office Palung Bikas Raj Tamang.    

   Absconding drug abuse convict arrested after eight years  

The District Police Office Tanahun arrested an absconding drug abuse convict on Thursday. Police arrested Sanjaya Gharti, 25, a resident of Byas municipality-1, Bhadgaun Bigyanchaur in the district.     He went at large when the District Court sentenced him to eight days in jail along with a fine of Rs 4,000 on 29 May 2012. After more than eight years, police nabbed the convict and presented before the court.  

TU not conducting its exams soon

According to Examination Controller Pushpa Raj Joshi, though University was preparing to conduct the semester based exams from 1st September and annual based exams from mid-September, they were postponed for time being due to increasing threat of pandemic.

Religious fair at Gokarneshwor temple cancelled this year

   Gold up by Rs 2400 per tola in local market  

With sharp fall of Rs 6,200 on Wednesday, the price of per tola (11.66 grammes) fine gold has increased by Rs 2400 in the local market on Thursday.    

China providing support to landslide, flood victims of Sindhupalchowk   

China is to support the landslide and flood victims of Sindhupalchowk district.     The Nyalam County of Tibet Autonomous Region of China is providing 20 tonnes of rice, two tonnes of pulses, 10 thousand face masks, 200 pieces each of solar lights and tents and 500 pieces of blankets.    

Hotels in Sauraha closed two weeks after opening

The hotels at Sauraha, the main gateway to the Chitwan National Park, have closed within two weeks since reopening. The hotels that had reopened from July 30 have closed again since Wednesday.     The hotels here had remained closed since March 24 with the imposition of lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus pandemic and had been opened after four months.
