Tistung, Aug 14 : A person went missing and four vehicles were buried in a mound of landslide occurred at Thaha municipality-12, Gairigaun in Makawanpur along the Tribhuvan Highway.
Kale Moktan, 54, a local, went missing in the landslide, confirmed Police Inspector of the Area Police Office Palung Bikas Raj Tamang.
The landslide occurred on the road leading to a stone mine being operated at Gairigaun on Thursday. One excavator and three tippers were buried in the mound. Landslide had buried the excavator used for extracting stones from the mine and tipper used for carrying stones.
According to the eye-witness, the persons inside the vehicles had smashed the window screen of the vehicles and narrowly escaped the tragic incident.
Moktan, an employee of the stone mine, has not come to the contact following the landslide. Moktan’s wife who lost consciousness after knowing about the missing of her husband in the landslide was immediately taken to a health facility at Naukhandai. She is now receiving treatment there.
The Tribhuvan Highway has been disrupted after the landslide buried the road section. Though the police team had promptly reached the incident site after knowing about the landslide, the rescue operation was already delayed.
