Hotels, homestays in Chitlang not to open from August 17

Operators of hotels and homestays in Chitlang, northern part of Makawanpur district, have decided not to open their businesses owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Earlier, Chitlang Tourism Entrepreneurs’ Association had decided to open hotels and homestays from August 17 expecting the situation turning to normalcy.

  Sindhupalchowk landslide: 18 bodies recovered

Two more bodies were recovered from the site of the landslide that buried many houses in Lidi of Jugal rural municipality-2. With this, the casualty in the Friday morning landslide has now reached 18.

People's gathering restricted in Budhanikantha-10   

A gathering of over five people has been prohibited in Budhanilkantha municipality-10. A ward level disaster management committee on August 13 took a decision to this regard, citing the increasing COVID-19 infection in the locality for sometimes.

  Rainfall predicted across country for three days

Rainfall in almost all parts of the country has been predicted for coming three days. Meteorologist at Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Raju Pradhanang, informed that the countrywide rainfall was forecasted in the wake of the monsoon low pressure belt being near Nepal.

Lidi settlements to be translocated 

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the Lidi settlement in Jugal rural municipality of Sindhupalchowk will be shifted to a proper location. He said this after returning from an onsite inspection of the landslide-hit area on Friday.

Landslide victims identified  

The eleven people who died in the landslide that took place at Lidi in Jugal rural municipality-2 on Friday morning have been identified. Two men, four women and five children died in the incident, according to District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk.    

Various activities prohibited in Kathmandu   

The District Administration Office has prohibited various activities considering the serious impact on public health in the wake of increasing infection of Corona Virus in the valley. The order to this end was issued on Friday by Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal.
