Water birds census begins in Shuklaphanta National Park 

Water bird census has been started from Saturday in Shuklaphanta National Park and other areas. Water bird census has been started in the lakes and rivers inside and outside the park. The counting will continue till January 16.    

New drinking water project in Rukum   

A drinking water project is to be constructed in Sisne rural municipality-5 of Rukum (East). The foundation stone for the drinking water project has been laid on Friday. Ward Chair of Ward No. 5 Shante Bahadur BK laid the foundation stone of Thaknakhola Drinking Water Project.     

Parliamentary subcommittee formed for making suggestions on foreign policy

The subcommittee is expected to identify issues missing in the existing foreign policy and set its priorities. It will organise a workshop with the participation of experts from different quarters to seek suggestions for eliminating the situation of alteration in foreign policy with the government change.

Government grants permission, in principle, to formulate election related bill

Releasing the decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on December 29, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, shared that the Cabinet granted the permission, in principle, to formulate a bill related to election operation and management.

Cold wave obstructs Tribhuvan Highway  

The Tribhuvan Highway has been obstructed due to dense cold wave at Simbhanjyang. As a result, vehicles heading to Kathmandu from Hetauda and vice versa have been stuck midway, said Inspector Shree Ram Timalsina. Earlier, the highway that was obstructed due to snowfall resumed on Thursday evening. Transportation will reopen when the weather condition is good, he said.

Earthquake tremor felt in Sudurpaschim hill districts   

An earthquake tremor has been felt in the hilly districts of the Sudurpaschim province, including in Baitadi. The tremor occurred at 12.53 am on Wednesday and was felt in Baitadi and Darchula, among other districts.

Udayapur's Katari to launch paragliding

Weather expected to improve from Thursday
