The global pandemic has thrown up challenges to the government's goals of reducing maternal and child mortality rate while unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortion have increased due to lack of access to contraceptives and safe abortion service, according to the Department of Health Services under the Family Welfare Division.  

Two killed in road accident in Sarlahi 

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Sarlahi last night. A woman died after she was knocked down by a bicycle while a male person died in a motorbike accident, the Sarlahi Police said.    

Suspension bridges to be constructed in Kotbhairav and Dudheshwar

Suspension bridges are being constructed at Kotbhairav and Dudheshwor, historical and archeological sites in Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-2 and 5 to attract tourists to the district. The bridge is being constructed at a height of at least 70 meters above Dwari river in Dipayal with the objective of making it easy to see the scenery around.

Dozens killed in Bangladesh ferry blaze

At least 37 people have been killed and about 100 others injured after a packed ferry caught fire in southern Bangladesh, local officials say. The blaze on the three-decked vessel started mid-river near the town of Jhalakathi as it sailed from the capital Dhaka to the town of Barguna.
