Judicial Council meeting postponed

Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana had called the meeting for today but was postponed due to the inability of council member Ram Prasad Bhandari due to ill health, according to a press release issued by the Council Spokesperson Man Bahadur Karki.

Energy Minister for running industries through use of electricity

There would not be a situation wherein fertilizers cost high due to costly production without enough electricity, the minister ensured. She also stressed the need for using electricity produced within the country for cooking purposes so as to discourage cooking gas that has been imported from foreign countries at a higher price. The IBN should be serious about investment being poured in the petroleum sector is discouraged in foreign countries, by bypassing hydropower, she said.

Minister Ale urges EU for lifting Nepal from ‘air safety list’

During a meeting with EU Delegation Ambassador for Nepal Nona Deprez today, the Minister said Nepal was doing its best to get removed from the list and to further improve its air service and was fully committed to air safety.

60,000 students aged 12-17 fully vaccinated against COVID-19 

Sixty thousand students between 12-17 years of age have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Kanchanpur district, according to the District Health Office.    

Heavy snowfall cripples life in Manang district   

Many places in the mountainous and high hill areas have witnessed heavy snowfall with the westerly low-pressure system becoming active. As a result, life has been affected in many ways while people of the areas that rarely received snowfall enjoyed it.

Five persons missing in Chandragiri hill rescued  

Five persons of a family including children, who were missing in the Chandragiri hill while going for snow fun, were rescued by police personnel at 1:00 last night.  

Prakash Sharan Mahat is now NC Spokesperson   

Nepali Congress (NC) central committee member Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has been appointed the party Spokesperson.     Party President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba appointed Dr Mahat to the post in accordance with the Clause 25 (4) of the Party Statute, according to the NC Party Office.   

Flights at Suketar airport continue to get obstructed today   

Flights at Suketar airport in Taplejung district have been continuously obstructed today due to bad weather condition and snowfall, said the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). As a result, flights to and from the district have been cancelled standing 14 passengers who booked tickets for Kathmandu, said Lokendra Limbu, station in-charge of the NAC in Taplejung.    

Light rainfall forecast   

There is still influence of westerly low-pressure system in the country.     According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather in hilly-areas of the country is now partly to generally cloudy due to the influence of westerly low-pressure system.  

Odd-even rule enforced on private vehicles, taxis lifted   

Odd-even rule enforced on all private vehicles and taxis in Kathmandu Valley has been lifted from Sunday night.     A meeting of the Chief District Officers of three districts of the Kathmandu Valley held on Sunday lifted the odd-even vehicle system, enforced by the meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Centre.
