55-point plan for reform in education sector: Minister Poudel   

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Poudel has said he had brought into the implementation the 55-point plan for the reform in education sector.  

Paragliding begins in Surkhet 

 The venue for the adventure sport is Bayalkanda and Deutithan of Birendranagar Municipality-14 and 1 respectively. It aims to promote adventure tourism in Karnali Province, said the sport operator Padam Bahadur Shahi.     Earlier in 2070BS, attempts to operate paragliding on a regular basis failed due to various reasons.

Karnali govt sending helicopter to Gagra for rescue of 55 snow-trapped people 

The Karnali Province government is preparing to send a helicopter to rescue those people trapped by snowfall at different parts of Gagra alpine in Jumla. Chief Minister Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has taken initiations to recue 55 people left stranded at Gagra.     

Youth killed in road accident 

A youth died in a road accident that took place at Butwal Sub-metropolitan-2 Tinau Bridge. The deceased has been identified as Basu Acharya, 30, of Sandhikharka Municipality-1, Arghakhanchi, according to the Lumbini province Traffic Police Office.    

Doctors not receiving incentive allowance concerning  

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha has expressed concern over the failure to provide incentive allowance to the doctors of Damauli Hospital. He expressed his concern following a news report by the National News Agency (RSS) about the doctors not getting their due allowance.

The weather affected by the western low pressure system for the last few days is expected to improve from today.    

Sidhicharan highway blocked since three days 

The Sidhicharan highway remains blocked due to heavy snowfall. The highway has been closed for the past three days due to snowfall in the upper part of Solu since last Thursday night.     Traffic on the highway has been completely closed since Friday morning due to heavy snowfall in the area, said District Traffic Police Chief Sub-inspector Krishna Katwal.    

Indian national arrested with narcotics  

Police have arrested two Indian nationals from Mechinagar, Jhapa along with the narcotics, brown sugar. Among the arrested are Mohammad Sultan, 25, and Ranjit Ganesh, 27, of Chunilal village in Darjeeling, India.   

Woman dies of cold  

A woman of Topla village of Tatopani Rural Municipality-8 of Jumla has died due to severe cold after being trapped in snow. According to local resident Devilal Shahi, she died on February 3 while she was going to cultivate Setak Chini, a medicinal herb, in Patan of the same village.    

18 km road constructed by collecting donations

An alternative road connecting Ghodepani, a tourist spot in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 of Myagdi, has been constructed. The road network is connected from Mahabhir to Gharamdi and from Tikot to Thulakharka and Pyaribharani lakes in Ward No. 7 of Annapurna. This has facilitated the residents of Ghodepani, Gharamdi, Tikot as well as tourists visiting Ghodepani.
