World Environment Day marked planting saplings on Bagmati River banks  

Saplings of various species have been planted in the United Nations (UN) Park area along the Bagmati River on the occasion of World Environment Day.

Most rural municipalities in Humla have asymptomatic coronavirus infection cases

Although coronavirus infection is confirmed in these people through the antigen tests, they show no symptoms of the disease even during the 10 days' duration of their stay in isolation. A majority of the infected people in the district are asymptomatic, said Tasi Aangju Lama, doctor at the Humla District Hospital.

It is said COVID-19 is spreading wider and faster in the community as people are not readily coming for tests. The infected people are more fearful of the community than the disease itself due to the social stigma.

Census of blue sheep underway   

A census of Bharal or blue sheep is being carried out in the Kanchanjunga region. Regarded to be as the source of food for the snow leopards living in and around the base of Kanchanjung mountain, the blue sheep count is being carried out with support from the Kanchanjunga conservation area management council and the World Wildlife Fund.   

US to provide vaccines to Nepal   

The United States of America is to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal. Issuing a statement on Friday, joint spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari said that the US government has decided to support Nepal with COVID-19 vaccines.  

Vaccination centres in every ward of KMC   

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to set up vaccination centres in every ward of the metropolis for the next round of COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccination is now taking place for citizens between 60 to 64 years old, starting this Tuesday.
