CPL: Sandeep adds one more to his tally   

Sandeep Lamichhane continued his good run in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, taking one more wicket in the latest match of his team, Jamaica Tallawahs. His team however lost the match against Barbados Trinidad.    

CAN solicits applications for eight coaches including a head coach

The position of head coach has remained vacant after Umesh Patwal left the job. Association Chair Chatur Bahadur Chand said applications have been solicited for the post since the training of the national team has been affected in absence of head coach for a long time.

     Sandeep continues to shine in CPL  

Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets to help his team Jamaica Tallawahs gain a victory in the Carribean Premier League T20 tournament. In the match held on Saturday night, Jamaica defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 37 runs.

Jamaica Tallawahs, the team in which Nepal's leg spin bowler Sandeep Lamichhane is playing, lost today's match played under the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T-20 Cricket held in Trinidad and Tobago.

The right-arm leg spin bowler, who is playing for Jamaica Tallawahs, took a wicket for four overs conceding only 12 runs. With this, he claimed five wickets in four matches earlier. In the10th over, Lamichhane conceded only three runs. In the 12th over, he dismissed Sherfane Rutherford giving four runs. Rutherford hit only one run.

Sandeep continues his good run in CPL  

Nepali national cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has made a very good beginning in the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League, a T20 cricket tournament. 

   Cricket players to be insured against COVID-19  

The players in the national cricket team are to be insured against COVID-19. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is insuring the players.    

  Sandeep’s team to play its CPL match tomorrow  

Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is playing, is taking place from today. CPL would begin at 7:45 pm at Trinidad and Tobago.

Nepal continues to remain in the 99th position in the latest football rankings released by FIFA for women's football. The FIFA rankings remain the same as no international match has taken place due to the impact of the Corona Virus as of late.

The ongoing training of Karate players as part of preparation for Olympic to be organized in Japan’s capital, Tokyo, has been put off.     Owing to unchecked outbreak of coronavirus infection, the training of the Karate players was put on hold since Tuesday.

Players Bishal Rai, Ranjit Dhimal, Mikchen Tamang, Rabi Paswan, Darshan Gurung, Bimal Rana, Deep Karki, Dilen Loptan, Chhiring Gurung, Devendra Tamang and Pujan Uparkoti and physio Aviskar Pudasaini and coach Kiran Shrestha were among those included in the first-phase testing procedures.

Sandeep leaving for Trinidad and Tobago tomorrow to play CPL 

Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane will be leaving for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday to play the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). According to his manager Raman Siwakoti, the player is scheduled to fly towards the island country in the Caribbean through a chartered flight of the Korean Air.    

Govt reappoints Silwal NSC member secretary

The government on Monday made some important appointments and promotions of the officials in separate bodies of the government. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the official residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar this evening promoted Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) Niraj Bahadur Shahi and Pradhumna Karki to Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) of Nepal Police.

  Cabinet allows conduction of training sessions from August 17 onward   

The government has decided to allow training sessions as part of the preparation of the international sports events from 17 August onward.     A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday took the decision to this effect. Disclosing the cabinet decisions on Tuesday, government spokesperson and Minister for Finance, Communications and Information Technology Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada shared that the sports training sessions are allowed to be conducted from August 17 onward.  

Ashok Khadka announced best umpire

Nepal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Romania had participated in the tournament. Eight Nepali players got medals in the Pumse taekwondo. Nepali player Madhusudan Sapkota got gold medal. In addition to this, Nepal won four silver and three bronze medals in the Challenge Cup.

Stakeholders stress on resuming sports activities 

The sports stakeholders have expressed worry for no sign of resumption of sports activities even after the government-enforced lockdown against COVID-19 has prevailed for around three months.

The 13th edition of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship scheduled in Bangladesh is to take place next year.    

SC acquits Nepal national team footballers of match fixing charges

Bhadrakali Pokharel, spokesperson of the Supreme Court, informed on Tuesday that the SC gave clean chit to Sagar Thapa, former captain of national football team, players Anjan KC, Sandip Rai, Ritesh Thapa, Bikash Singh Chhetri and physiotherapist Dejip Thapa.

'Lockdown COVID-19 Online Video Poomsae Championships' are set to take place from June 21. The International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championships (IOFTC) headquartered in Poland will organise the competition in two phases online when the global pandemic has affected world sports, said IOFTC's founder and competition's director Diwakar Maharjan.
