By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, July 28: The government on Monday made some important appointments and promotions of the officials in separate bodies of the government.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the official residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Baluwatar this evening promoted Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) Niraj Bahadur Shahi and Pradhumna Karki to Additional Inspectors General (AIGs) of Nepal Police.
A proposal to promote the two DIGs tabled by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ was endorsed by the Cabinet meeting held this evening, according to Soorya Subedi Pathik, political advisor to Home Minister Thapa.
The DIG duos were recommended for the posts of the AIG by the promotion committee of the Ministry headed by Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane on July 15. Inspector General of Nepal Police is the member secretary of the promotion committee.
Promotion of Shahi and Karki to the key post of Nepal Police has been seen with much importance within the police organisation as one of them will be the chief of Nepal Police by replacing sitting police chief Shailesh Thapa Chhetri in four years.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet meeting appointed Ramesh Silwal as member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), the only authentic and formal sports organisation of the government.
Minister for Sports and Youth Jagat Bahadur Sunar (Bishwakarma) said the government had appointed Silwal member secretary for the second time. Silwal has been appointed to the post for a term of four years, he said. Also, the Cabinet appointed Shiva Koirala as vice-chairman of the Council.
The government has promoted joint secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini to the post of secretary.
The government has also appointed Buddhi Bahadur KC to the post of executive director of Radio Nepal. KC, who has been the staff of the Radio Nepal itself, has been serving as deputy executive director.
