Deuba got elected to the post of party president with 2724 votes while his rival Dr. Shekhar Koirala got 1817 votes. Some 33 votes were invalidated.

Of the counted 3,418 votes, incumbent NC president Sher Bahdur Deuba has got 2,045 votes while his rival Dr. Shekhar Koirala has secured 1,347 votes.
