Communication services disrupted for two weeks 

Communication services remain disrupted at Mudkechula rural municipality of Dolpa district for two weeks. The communication services were cut off as a telecommunication tower which was damaged due to lightning has not been repaired yet.    

Weather unlikely to improve immediately 

Meteorologist Samir Shrestha said the monsoon system should develop with either the occurrence of heavy rainfall or gusty wind for the haze to clear out. "There is no possibility of such a system developing in the coming two or three days," he said.  

  One dies after falling from cliff  

An elderly person died after falling from a local cliff at Raksirad rural municipality in Makawanpur district.    

Khimti Substation nears completion

According to the agreement, 47 km-long transmission line has been installed from Gongar to Devitar of Ramechhap district, along with the construction of 127 towers, said Dr. Ganesh Neupane, UTHP spokesperson.

Viral fever grips locals in Baitadi   

The District Hospital and other majority of the health facilities have been receiving increasing number of viral fever patients lately. Apart from viral fever, the health facilities were also attending to patients suffering from diarrhoea patients according to District Hospital, Baitadi Chief Basantaraj Joshi.   

Man murdered in Itahari

A man was murdered cold-bloodedly in Sunsari district on Monday. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Sunsari Nagendra Karki said that Keshav Karki of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-2 was killed after piercing his body by a metal rod while he was sleeping.  

Youth held with 7 kgs marijuana   

A youth from Belaka Municipality-8 in Udayapur district was held for illegally possessing seven kilograms marijuana.

Flood victims in Bajura wait for safe places to live in

Most of the flood and landslide victims in Bajura district are worried about safe place to shelter their heads than food to eat. The floods in the local Budhi Ganga River on the night of July 10 last year swept away all of their houses and lands. Again the rainy season is coming soon and they are worried about safe place to live in.

Fire spreading in Sarlahi forests

Neither the locals nor the consumer committees are worried about the wild forests. In a couple of places, the locals have taken initiatives to put out the blaze only if it is heading to their settlements. However, no one is concerned about the burning forests.

Stray cattle to be fitted with GPS collar in Kathmandu

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has proposed to track the movement of domesticated cattle by strapping a Global Positioning System (GPS) collar onto their necks.

Man killed in tusker attack in Dhanusha   

An elderly man was killed when a wild elephant attacked him at Khaptari Tol in Mithila Municipality-7 in Dhanusha district on Sunday night.    Padam Bahadur Khaptari Magar, 80, was attacked to death by the elephant while he was sleeping at his home, said the police.

Jhapa records 553 cases of elephantiasis 

The District Health Office Jhapa said that the district has recorded as many as 553 cases of elephantiasis.  Kumarkhod of Jhapa rural municipality has the highest 32 elephantiasis cases in the district, according to the health office sources.

Mayor's two dozers set ablaze  

An unidentified group put the dozers (Bhe 1 Ka 4636 and Bhe 1 Ka 1294) on fire in the forest between Jufal and Lahara in course of the construction of road linking wards 5 and 6, shared Police Inspector Hariram Dangi.  

NA defuses two bombs found in Thehe village 

A Nepal Army (NA) team has defused a sutali bomb planted in-between two houses at Simkot rural municipality-2, Thehegaun in Humla. House owner Log Bhandari had informed the Thehe police post once the bomb plantation was suspected between the houses of Bhandari and Tula Rawal.

Smog to stay some more days in Kathmandu Valley 

The smog blanketing the Kathmandu Valley since Friday is to stay some more days. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology informed that the air pollution caused by wildfire in most of the districts, long drought and lack of strong wind is behind the smog.

Office assistant asked to repay Rs. 1m over retirement date row

A discrepancy in his date of birth and bureaucratic delays has put Ram Bahadur Basnet of Rangeli Municipality–8, Morang in a position of having to return salaries and allowances of 33 months. The date of birth of Basnet, who has been working as an office assistant at Rangeli Hospital for the past 40 years, mentioned in his citizenship does not match with the date included in his employment records.
