Swab collection suspended for lack of VTM kits   

Collection of throat swab of people suspected of coronavirus infection has stopped in the Sudurpaschim (Far-west) region. The task of swab collection has been suspended again due to the shortage of the viral transport medium (VTM) kits.    

KOICA assists 50 thousand PCR kits

Dr Rajan Pokhrel, Chief Health Advisor of Ministry of Health and Population and Chief of Health Coordination Division, received the assistance from the South Korean Embassy's Chargé d' Affaires. In the first lot, South Korea handed 25,000 kits and remaining will be given on coming Saturday, the KOICA said. The assistance is equivalent to Rs 625 million.

River Product Mining Monitoring Committee has directed the bodies concerned to immediately stop the ongoing illegal river mining in Jumla rivers.    

11 months old child defeats COVID-19  

An 11-month-old child suffering from COVID-19 has been discharged from the Mahakali Hospital here after recovery. The child, Sushank Sunar, from Shuklaphanta municipality-11 of Kanchanpur district had been kept in isolation ward of the hospital for 14 days for treatment, Hospital's officiating medical superintendent Dr Hari Kumar Shrestha said.    

COVID-19 confirmed in five more persons of Kathmandu

A person of Kathmandu was found infected with the virus in the PCR test conducted at Dhulikhel laboratory while in the test carried out at National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) another person of Kathmandu was detected with the virus. In the test carried out in Patan Hospital laboratory, two persons of Kathmandu and one person of Lalitpur were found to have been infected with the contagion.

Ten-year-old killed due to lightning 

A 10-year-old girl has died after lightning struck her at Khadananda municipality-3 in north of Bhojpur. Police identified the deceased as Kritika Raut, daughter of Ramji Raut of Temkemaiyung rural municipality-1.    

Deep-boring water supply project benefits 30 thousand people 

A deep-boring water supply project has been constructed in Chandragiri municipality, benefitting a population of 30 thousand. The municipality continued the construction works even during the lockdown period for completing the project at ward no. 10 and 11 of Satungal. The project was constructed at a cost of Rs 8.67 million

Five more BOP set up in Kailali  

Five more border outposts (BOP) have been set up in Kailali district. They are at Bangarakatan, Jugeda, Khonpur, Hitmatpur and Sri Lanka Tapu.    

Bus park submerged in flood water   

Property worth millions of rupees have been destroyed due to floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Chunbang Bhume rural municipality-9 of the district. Floods in Lakhar river have led to a damage between 2.5 to 3 million rupees in the ward.    

Motorable bridge over Bijayapur river 

The construction of the motorable bridge over the Bijayapur river that links Pokhara metropolis-13 and Madi rural municipality-5 has reached the final phase. The bridge located along the Sikles-Dudhpokhari road section is being built with an investment of Rs. 56.5 million from the federal government.

A woman quarantined in the Naubahini rural municipality has given birth last night. Saraswati Pun,18, gave birth to a baby boy at the Nera basic school quarantine in ward no. 7 of the rural municipality last night.

New guideline issued for coronavirus test in Sudurpaschim State

27 cases of dengue in Gandaki State  

Amid COVID-19 menace, six districts in Gandaki State have witnessed 27 cases of dengue fever lately. Five persons were also found suffering from scrub typhus in Myagdi, according to State Health Directorate, Pokhara.
